"So Hanni, tell me about yourself." the principal asked me as we walked.
"So, I'm Hanni. I'm 17 and I'm from Melbourne. I like music and I like reading." I said, unsure of what else to say.
"Wonderful. If you like music and reading then you might be interested in some of our extracurricular clubs. Our school has a total of five extracurricular clubs. Which brings us to the first stop of our tour, the sports fields." she said as we stopped and when I looked around I could make out two sports fields a few metres away from us.
"We have a hockey field and a soccer field. This is where our hockey and soccer team practise. The other clubs that we have are an arts club, a musical theatre club and an English literature, or as I call it, a book club. In this school every student is required to sign up for at least one extracurricular club. Every club practises or meets up twice a week. Practises are on weekdays only and every club has one practise from 3pm to 5pm and one practise from 7pm to 9pm every week. Do you already have an idea of what club you might want to sign up for?" she explained, finishing with a question. This was a lot of information and I just knew that I would probably have forgotten it by the end of the day.
"I'm not sure yet." I answered.
"Well, you have got time to figure it out. Use next week to check out the clubs and then you can pick whichever you like the most." she said before she started walking again and I just followed her.
"Now, here we have our garden. Students usually just chill and hang out here." she said once we had gotten to the garden, where a few students were sitting on a bench. From the corner of my eye I could see them staring at me and I heaved a sigh as I lowered my head a little. I hated being the new kid already. The garden itself was pretty though. In the middle there stood a few benches and picnic tables for student to sit at and the rest of the garden was decorated with bushes, trees and flowers of all kinds.
"Now, let's go inside. I'll show you the school building first." she said as she started walking again.
"Also, you are allowed to go outside, as in, outside of the school's premises, however much you like. This is not a prison camp, all you have to do is let a housekeeper know so we know that you are out. We do have a curfew. Everyone is expected back here at 10pm on weekdays and 11pm on Fridays and Saturdays. Being late will result in punishment of course." she explained as we entered the building. The walls of the building were thick and made of heavy dark grey stones. The building had probably been a castle of some sorts in the past and I wondered how old exactly it was.
"So, this part of the building is the school building. In the hallway to your left we have all of our classrooms. Every class has their own classroom, teachers will switch between classrooms here instead of the students. The lockers are inside the classrooms. The only classes that are held outside of your class' designated classroom are chemistry, which is given in the science lab, music, which is given in the auditorium, physical education, which is given outside on the sports fields and art, which is given in the arts room." she explained as we walked through the hallway with classrooms. There were a total of four regular classrooms with the numbers 9, 10, 11 and 12 on it, probably referring to the year, and then there were the special classrooms. The hallway itself was rather large, with a high ceiling and a couple of arches that served as a source of stability to the building.
"In the auditorium we also have assembly, which is held every morning from Monday to Friday. During assembly the daily announcements are made." she explained. I just nodded at everything she said.
We then continued walking and soon we entered a large hall that I assumed to be the cafeteria. It had a long table in the middle with a lot of chairs.
"This is our cafeteria. Here our students have lunch during school days. This room is pretty self explanatory I think." she said before we walked out of the cafeteria again.
