CHAPTER 12 - Engagement preps

3rd person pov:

Shreyas's family reached Ankitha's home earlier by 30 minutes while Ankitha's appa was having his breakfast. "Good morning, mama", Shrey greeted first and eventually both of their parents started having a conversation.

"Shrey, can you go and call Anki ? I told her to wake up an hour ago and don't know if she is ready or not", Rupa said and Shrey made his way to her room. He was standing outside, hesitant to go in and was looking at the parents.

"What happened, Shrey ?", His amma asked 

"I knocked the door, ma. But she is not opening the door",he replied and Rupa replied "The door will not be locked shrey, you can go in"

"But..Atha. What if, You know, What if..She is changing or something ?", he asked hesitantly and his parents couldn't be happier and proud anymore. They were proud, because he was consious about not go inside a girl's room without prior permission even though it was his fiance's room.

The one who felt immensely happy was Ankitha's appa, he felt happy because Shrey respects the privacy of his daughter. He respectedd Anki's personal space, her comfort in every single thing.

He couldn't be happier anymore because there is no way, he can trust anyone other than Shrey for his daughter.

"Shrey, She changes in bathroom. You can go in", His atha said with reassuring smile. "Atha, are you sure ? or may I try to her phone ?", he asked but Anki herself came out of the room, wet hair damped from the shower she took just now.

"Hello atha. Good morning, mama", She chirped to them, completely ignoring Shrey,"Shrey, I'll be down in a few minutes", she informed and they went back to their talking.

"Yash, seriously ?! You could have came in.. that's way too formal of you", Ankitha said as both of them went inside her room. "Anki, No. Not in the ducking world I'm entering a room without knocking and enlighten me, What is so formal about it ?", he replied.

Ankitha didn't reply, she just got Shrey in a hug,"Shrey, how can you be this perfect ? Seriously..But I don't like it, okay ? so don't behave like some stranger, you can come in and I won't mind", She mummbled

"Okay, fine. But not untill our marriage, not untill we start sharing a room, I will atleast knock and come in", Shreyas said and added,"Now, go and get ready. We have to leave. I will go down, hmm?", Shrey said pulling out from the hug and Anki nodded. "I can't wait to see you in a saree", Shrey said pecking her forehead and hurried down.

Ankitha smiled to herself, changed to something casual and blow dried her hair. She went down to see her amma and atha in the dinning table, probably waiting for her to eat. She hurriedly had her breakfast and they all started to the shop.

First, they took dress for Shrey and the men of the family. Shradh, Ani and Adi is in different place because too many people covering their face will give them up. So, Riya and Shreshtha to the other shop for their dresss whereas Anu decided to stay at Riya's home as her parents moved to Mumbai, whenever Anushka comes back to Chennai, she stays at either of their homes.

And for Ankitha, they selected matching the colour of Shrey's shirt and the corners of his dhothi. For trials, all the ladies went inside and they refused to show Ankitha's outfit. Because of this, Shreyas is showing a long face and Ankitha found it funny and adorable, when his cheeks looked squishy when he showed that puppy face.

They started to restaurant now, All the parents in a car and Ankitha and Shreyas in one car. The reason they said was 'Shrey don't know the directions so Anki will help with the directions', poor reason.

In the car, Shreyas didn't even glance at Ankitha. They stuck on traffic but still Shreyas was either looking at his phone or at the road.

"Yash?"

No reply.

"Shrey?"

No reply.

"Shreyas?"

silence...

Ankitha have had enough, She took her seatbelt off and faced him completely, She grabbed his cheeks, her thumb on one of his cheek and the other four fingers on his other cheek, made him face her. 

"Listen, Mr.Iyer. I wanted to show that saree Which I was wearing, but that customer attendant denied it, I asked her many times which went in vain, now stop being an idiot and talk to me", She said in one go and pulled back from him, going back to her previous position.

"Mrs.Iyer. I was just pulling your leg but very much pleased with the reaction that I got", he replied taking her hand in his and interwining their fingers.

"Fine~ I wanted to tell you about something, Yash.."

"Yep, I'm all ears", Shrey replied. "Um..Yash, You know Vicky from the industry, right ?" Anki asked and Shreyas nodded,"Of course I do, love. What about him?"

"He is being really annoying and bothering me to date him.. I've been saying 'no' for..like 6 months or something..But he is getting on my throat, recently", Ankitha said and felt the grip on her hand tighten.

"Why don't we go public right now, love? We have that beach picture-", Shreyas started his anger slightly getting higher. "Yash, calm down. First, think", Ankitha said and Shrey looked at her,"We can post that candids, love. That will do-"Shreyas started only to get interupted by Ankitha,"Shrey, listen to me for a minute, please. You are taking that decision in pure rage. Just calm yourself down". 

"Tell me, Anki?", Shrey asked, a moment later. "Yash, If we go public now, It will affect the preparations, definitely our engagement day too. I don't want to make any confusions in our engagement, Yash", Ankitha said and Shreyas remained silent for a minute and sighed,"You are right, love".

"Dad is genius sometimes", He muttered but Anki heard it clearly, "What are you muttering about ?"

"Nothing, love. Just the thing appa said..When I was scared to get into a relationship, Appa assured it would be fine and my better half will help me to take decisions without rage, you know appa was also like this in early days", Shreyas said and Ankitha questioned,"Am I your better half, then?",

"one and only",Shreyas answered and the sincerity in his voice heated Anki's cheeks up ,"And handle that vicky for four more days, after that i'll make sure he doesn't get near my girl", Shreyas added and Anki felt butterflies going round and round in her whole system.

"Jealous much, ha?", Anki asked with a mischevious glint and Shrey replied,"Jealous is not the right word, love. I'm 'protective'" 'yep,he is got a point' Ankitha thought, and they arrived at the restaurant they were supposed to come.

Their parents are already in there and noticed the change in Shreyas's mood.

"Someone is back to the track, again", Prakash (Shrey's appa) commented. "Appa~", Shreyas whisper shouted.

And they all retired to their respective homes with the information to their kids that both of them can choose their rings, So Ankitha and Shreyas decided to look for their rings the next day.
