Have you ever had a friend-group?  One where everyone just instantly clicked. One where even when broken, never fell out of love for one another..?

--

School: Morning - 8am

--

Poppy is in the hallway with her bag on her back and nerves through her body.

She looks around and sighs, not knowing how to feel now that she's back in the same school she left almost 3 years ago.

looking over to her left she sees her sister Micheal, in a corner talking to her two new friends Elhesi and Elijah.

Micheal met her friends at an orientation the school hosted. No, Poppy didn't want to go---mainly because she used to go to those things every year. And although Poppy didn't like them, her mom thought it was a great opportunity to meet new people---like Micheal did.. But nothing could persuade her honestly.

"New friends already, huh?" Poppy stated with a smile on her face.

"why not?" Micheal replies warmly, moving her head as a gesture for her friends to keep moving ahead.

"Funny." Poppy responded.

"I know."

--

"So.. How are you doing so far? Have you met anyone yet?" Micheal asked.

"Nah, not yet. In fact, you're the first person I talked to---but you obviously don't count."

"yeah..." Micheal said, nodding her head trying to make the situation less awkward.

Talking with Micheal for those few minutes took poppy's mind off things.. But sister talk couldn't last forever, and Micheal eventually went back to her friends.

Speaking of friends---Poppy couldn't help but keep her ex friends on her mind. Sure she's had plenty of times where she thought of their situation or if they were still at the school.. But being there made all of those thoughts rush back into her head.

Riya, Sera, and Cleo. "Are they still here? Will they recognize me?" She asks herself.

Over time, Poppy felt better and decided to look around a bit more.. She walked to the principals office to get her classes--not knowing that would be where she met a boy named Kaleb.

--

"hey!" He shouted as she walked out of the room.. But she didn't hear him.

"HEY!" He called out again.

This time, she heard him, and was turning around to see who was calling her name.

As Poppy was about to open hear mouth and speak, he beat her to it.

"Hey!! I don't think I've seen you last year so I'm guessing you're a newbie?" He asked. "I'm Kaleb." He added.

--

Poppy looked at him with confusion and contempt... "I'm not a newbie. I've been to this school almost all my life and left about 3 years ago. But now, I'm back. Kinda wishing I would've stayed out." She said laughingly. Sighing afterwards.

This time, Kaleb looked at HER with confusion and contempt. He joined the school about three years ago, 7th grade. Meaning she left before he could ever meet her---Which made sense.

"That's my bad then. What's your name?" He asked.

"Poppy." She replied.

"Well, I can show you around if you'd like? I'm like one-hundred percent sure the school has changed since you've been here."

"ah, no thanks, but thanks. I can find my own way." she thought. But it's not what she said. Instead, she said,

"why are you being so nice Kaleb?" Concerningly.

"He's always like this." said a girl joining the conversation.

Poppy turned her head to see who it was and.. Oh my days! It was Cleo.

Cleo was one of the girls from her ex-friend group. Of course Poppy knew it was her, but did Cleo know Poppy was the girl standing right in front of her? It was so weird for Pops. knowing Cleo hadn't change that much---She was still really beautiful though..

On the bright side, Poppy completely understood why Cleo couldn't recognize her. Poppy's style and height changed. The last hairstyle everyone from that school seen her in were locs---but she got them taken out.

--

To play Cleo's introduction off, poppy laughed and asked for her name.

"Thanks for asking, my name is Cleo. What about you?"

Poppy's heart almost burst out of her chest. The pressure didn't feel right, she almost wanted to lie. But before she could say anything, a girl called out to Cleo from the crowd.

It was Sera. Another one of the girls..

"Just in time!" Poppy thought. If she was going to lie about her name, Kaleb couldn't be there. If she didn't want to say her name at all, Kaleb couldn't be there. If her and Cleo were going to have their moment, he couldn't be there.

--

Just as expected, Cleo turned her head as soon as Sera called her. And once she turned back around---started apologizing. "Sorry about that. Maybe I'll catch up with you guys later?" Cleo said, trying to clarify.

"yeah sure." Kaleb replied.

--

Cleo was feeling a little bad, but Poppy had no clue why. Maybe it was some un-finished business with her and Kaleb? You could see it in her face.. But if that didn't stop her from going with Sera---maybe it wasn't that serious.

--

To be quite honest, Poppy knew Sera and Cleo would still be friends---they always favorited each other back then anyway. Stood up for each-other, told each other everything.. They acted like true bestfriends.. Which Poppy believed they were now.

--

"So.. Are you going to take the offer?" Kaleb asked as Cleo walked away.

"what offer?"

"I asked if you wanted me to show you around.."

"oh! Yeah sure, why not?" Poppy replied. She felt kind of bad, and respected how much Kaleb was being nice to her., So why not?

Plus, it was a chance to make a new friend.
