"I-" I stuttered, soon sighing.

I'll admit, I was scared. Although, it's probably not for the reason you think. Sure, I wasn't afraid to say that I didn't know, or that they woke me up before I could pull the weapon out of the gold and blue light, but I was afraid of how much it would hurt them emotionally. I mean, that's basically just telling them that they woke me up before I could get my weapon, and according to others, that's a big turning point in someone's life. I can't just tell that to them and let them think that they just ruined something big!

"I think it might've been a spear?" I said, already doubting my own memories. "I couldn't really tell. I was woken up before I could get a full grasp of it."

"Ah," Kai said. "Well, sorry about that. Try summoning it!"

I kept a straight face, but on the inside, it felt like something cut off my ability to feel for a split second, then shocked me. Afterwards, more thoughts began rushing through my head.

Could I even summon my weapon?

I had two choices, each lead to two or more different paths:

I could try and summon my weapon. I could succeed, and everything would be fine. I could fail, and then I'd have no choice but to break the news to them, otherwise they'd think I'm not trying, or they'd find out eventually.
Or, I could keep to myself. They could get skeptical and keep asking until I inevitably break and try to summon it. Again, I could fail and they'd know, or I could succeed and it'd all be peachy.

I had a choice to make, and I was running out of time. I decided to go for broke and try to summon it, but before I could, something happened. Something that could've just possibly saved me.

UPDATE: THE TERRORIST ATTACK HAS PASSED. ALL CRISES HAVE BEEN AVERTED AND GENERAL STYKMORE HAS GIVEN THE CITADEL THE ORDER TO CONTINUE WITH THEIR DAY, AND HAS CONFIRMED IT IS NOW SAFE TO COME OUT OF HIDING. I REPEAT: GENERAL STYKMORE HAS GIVEN THE CITADEL THE ORDER TO CONTINUE WITH THEIR DAY, AND HAS CONFIRMED IT IS NOW SAFE TO COME OUT OF HIDING.

We had all stood up, and Naiah opened the blinds, sighing. "Looks like we're good for now."

"Wonder what all that was about. We didn't hear a single boom or anything," Kai said, visibly confused.

"Yeah, come to think of it," I said, pondering what it was all about. Like Kai said, there wasn't a peep to be heard. Not an explosion or anything. So why was there such a big fuss over it, leading to even General Stykmore putting the Citadel on lockdown?

Something was off.

Very off.

But oh well, not like I was a detective. Plus, they weren't having any redoes with the Day of Summoning. Everyone had well enough time to link with their weapons.

Everyone except me.

Well, it was already afternoon, and both Kai and Naiah had something to do after the Day of Summoning, so we decided to part from there.

[8 HOURS LATER]

I knocked on the door, knowing my Dad was home. My Mom? She passed awhile ago.

I remember it pretty vividly, actually. Much more than I'd want to. She died in a car accident. It wasn't her fault, though. Some madman just ran into her.
He got justice when justice was due.

Man I miss her.

Before I could continue getting random thoughts stuck in my head, my Dad had answered the door. He does a stay-at-home job, so he's always home whenever I get back. I'm usually always out.
