The first tendrils of sunlight, bold and bright, sliced through the gap in my curtains, landing directly on my face. I groaned, swatting at the intrusive rays. It was 7:30AM, and my body, still clinging to the remnants of sleep, was not ready for this.

'Ugh, not today,' I mumbled, rolling over to face the wall. But the sun, persistent and determined, refused to be ignored. It was a new day, a fresh start, and it was determined to drag me into it.

I sat up, stretching and yawning. My apartment, small but cozy, was bathed in a warm, golden glow. The silence was broken only by the gentle hum of the refrigerator, a comforting background noise to my morning routine.

It is my first day of work as an intern in Malhotra industries, I'm excited and nervous at the same time.

I get ready and I'm wearing a simple light green coloured kurti paired with jeans, jutti and atlast but not the least jhumkas !  I leave my hair open.

(Something like this)

Within no time I leave my apartment . I settle into my car , gazing out of the window at the passing scenery. I belong to Hyderabad but I started living in Mumbai after completing my 12th.
I love Mumbai! Here I feel like Aisha from"wake up Sid".
I smile at my musings. That is when I realize my phone is ringing, I take out my phone from my bag. I see my best friend, srishti's number.
I pick the call, before I say something she starts by
" Hii I'm sorry yaar bhul gayi thi tera aj office ka first day hai " she says in bittersweet tone
(Hi sorry I forgot that I was your first day of office).
"It's okay bro chill kar.!" I speak reassuring her.
(It's ok bro,chill -...)
" behen take a deep breath first, and don't be nervous everything will go smoothly ,check your phone" she speaks making me do as per she say.
"Why have you sent me money!?" I question her
"Dahi shakkar nhi khila paayi na isiliye paise bheje hai chocolate khareed lena" she orders me.

(( I couldn't get you dahi shakkar so I've sent you money to buy yourself a chocolate atleast))

(Authors note-   Indian people find dahi shakkar (curd with sugar ) as a good luck for their work, so they consume dahi shakkar before something considered auspicious to them)

I wipe away my happy tears .I  surely won lottery to have a best friend like her . She is such a cutieee. She always helps me without asking anything in return. We have always been there for each other at our lowest times.

"Thanksss a lotttttt!!! Acha sunn I'll talk to you later I reached my office." I say as I reach my office.
"Good luck, don't skip your meals, and buy yourself chocolates too!!" She orders me
"Okayy meri maa ab bye!" I cut the call and get down of my car .

The imposing façade of Malhotra Company loomed before me, a shimmering behemoth of glass and steel. Its name, etched in bold gold letters, seemed to radiate an aura of power and wealth. I stood at the foot of this corporate titan, my heart pounding a nervous rhythm against my ribs.

The lobby was a spectacle of luxury . Marble floors gleamed under the soft glow of crystal chandeliers. The air was thick with the scent of expensive perfume and a subtle hint of freshly brewed coffee. I felt a wave of self-consciousness wash over me, my simple cotton dress suddenly feeling inadequate amidst the designer suits and polished smiles .
I approached the reception desk, my heart pounding in my chest.

"Excuse me, where can I find the Human Resources department?"I asked the receptionist, a friendly-looking woman with a warm smile.

"Take the elevator to the fifth floor and turn right," she replied. "It's the first door on your left."

With newfound determination, I boarded the elevator and ascended to the fifth floor. As the doors slid open, I stepped out and made my way towards the Human Resources department. However, as I turned the corner, I collided with a tall, imposing figure.

"Watch where you're going!"the figure snapped, his voice cold and unforgiving.

I stumbled backward, my face flushed with embarrassment. Looking up, I saw a handsome man with dark brown eyes and a clenched jaw. He was dressed in a sharp suit and exuded an aura of authority.

I straightened my jutti, my eyes meeting his dark brown eyes . "Even You have eyes, you should be watching where *you're* going," I retorted, my voice calm but firm.

He paused, his gaze sweeping over me from head to toe, a smirk playing on his lips for a second . "Well, I guess it's hard to see when you're busy tripping over your own feet,"he drawled, his words dripping with sarcasm.

I bristled, but I knew arguing with him would be pointless. He looked like the kind of man who thrived on provoking, on seeing others flustered. So, I simply shrugged, a silent dismissal.

He scoffed, then turned away, his cold demeanor radiating around him like a chill wind. I watched him go, a feeling of quiet anger simmering within me.
