I pace back and forth in my bedroom, the suspense of talking to Jamie taking over my mind. I feel so frustrated but scared at the same time. I hope he doesn't flip out at me or think that I'm lying. But he would understand, right?

He's currently in his room, while I'm pacing in mine, overreacting about everything. I take a deep breath and walk over to Jamie's bedroom. I place my hand on the doorknob and take another breath and open the door to reveal Jamie sitting at his desk with a pen in his hand.

He is hunched over the desk, deep in thought about what he's writing about. The door must have distracted him from his thoughts because he turns his head to look at me.

"What?" He questions as I stand in the doorway, the door only halfway open.

"I want to talk to you." I almost whisper, feeling as if I'm the last person he wants to see.

"Can it wait?" He looks back down at his papers.

"No, not really." He gathers his papers quickly and shoves them in a drawer. He proceeds to sit down on his bed, looking at me.

"What do you want to talk about?" He asks annoyed.

I take a seat next to him and I'm sure that he could hear my heart pounding out of my chest.

"I work with Brittany now..." I begin.

"And?"

I realize how frustrated I am with all this, deciding to just let it all out.

"Why is it so hard for you to talk to me, Jamie? I didn't do anything to you! We used to be the best of friends and now we can't even have a normal conversation that even complete strangers could have! But, you know what? It doesn't even feel like we're strangers. It feels like we're enemies."

"Don't give me that bullshit! Brittany told me everything and how you attacked her so you can stop lying to me." He argues back at me.

"I attacked her? You've gotta be kidding, right?"

"No, I'm not." He stands up and begins to walk back to his desk. "I'm done with this conversation." He sits down.

"Wow, so you're really going to believe her over me?"

"Jade," He turns to face me. "I'm done."

"Done with what? Our friendship? 'Cause I'm pretty sure that ended awhile ago wether I knew it or not." I storm to his bedroom door, but stop and turn before I leave. "Brittany said that you told her that the idea of dating me made you sick." He looks up at me like a deer in headlights, but doesn't say a word. "Is that true or did she lie about that, too?"

He hangs his head, looking out the window. I sigh, turning around.

"She didn't lie." He speaks up, making me stop and turn back around.

"So, just magically in almost three months I go from kissable to disgusting?" He still doesn't look at me. "Jamie, if this is about my decision about dating Tyler, I truly am sorry. I didn't mean to hurt-"

"That's not what this is about!" He interrupts me, making me flinch.

"Then why are you so pissed at me all the time that you won't even look at me?" I yell back at him.

"Just leave." He stands up and I back away from the door, before he slams it in my face.

I run back into my room, crying my eyes out. I call Tyler and tell him what happened.

"I'll be over right away." He says and hangs up the phone.

I dry my eyes with some tissues and change into a sweatshirt before lying down, waiting for Tyler to arrive.

The doorbell rings and I sit up, going downstairs to open the door for Tyler. Once I reach my door, I can hear voices from the upstairs hallway.

"So you say that about her and can't even tell her why you did? Dude, just own up to it and stop being a tool!" Tyler yells at Jamie in the foyer.

"At least I don't fuck other women on our road trips! I'm sure Jade would love to know that, wouldn't she?" Jamie yells back.

Tyler has been cheating on me? How could I possibly overlook this? I should have known, how could I have been so stupid? The tears make another appearance as they roll down my cheeks, but only for another reason. I become so infuriated that I barge down the stairs and tune out the rest of their words, focusing only on my own.

"How could you?" I yell at Tyler once I reach the bottom of the stairs. "I thought you were different, but it turns out you're just like every other guy that I've dated."

"Jade, I don't do that anymore. Not since I met you. Please." He begs and places his hands on my shoulders.

"Don't touch me!" I cry out, pushing his hands away from me. "Jamie may be a tool, but you're a true manwhore. I should have known." I run up the stairs and back into my room.

First, I lost my best friend. Second, I lost my boyfriend. Now, I feel all alone in a city filled with only strangers.
