"Mom, I think I'm gonna puke." I grasp onto my mother's shoulder as we both stand before the closed doors.
I'm moments away from walking down the aisle, but only if I don't get sick. This has to be the most nerve-wracking moment of my life. I'm just a walk away from my future, my forever, the love of my life, but I just don't think I could gain the courage to walk down that aisle.
"Just breathe." My mother comforts. "It's just the nerves."
"But what if it's not mom? What if I'm not supposed to be with Jamie for the rest of my life? What if I'm making the biggest mistake right now?" I ask her, tears threatening to spill from my eyes.
"Jade, calm down." She takes a hold of both my hands. "I'm going to ask you one question, okay?"
I nod my head as she takes a deep breath.
"Can you picture yourself with anyone other than Jamie? Really think about it." She says.
I think about living my life without Jamie. I wouldn't have my best friend anymore... I would lose him, because if I can't have him as my boyfriend then I can't have him as just my friend either. He has helped me so much throughout my entire lifetime, and I honestly don't think I could live without him by my side.
I imagine my life with someone like Tyler. Of course, I wouldn't be extremely unhappy. I would learn to really love Tyler, or someone like him, but it just wouldn't mean anything.
"No, I can't." I respond.
She smirks and steps aside. "Then you better walk down that aisle right now. He's waiting for you."
As she speaks her last words, the double doors open to reveal a big church with Jamie and I's friends and family filling the pews. My eyes stare down the aisle like a deer in headlights as I search for Jamie. I begin to walk as my eyes lock with Jamie's stare.
He looks amazing.
The trip to the end of the aisle takes a little longer than I had expected it to, but once I had reached Jamie, I placed my hands into his.
As the priest speaks, he mouths compliments to me.
"You look beautiful." He smiles.
I blush, "Thank you."
The ceremony continues, Jamie and I continuing to mouth each other our thoughts. When it's time for our vows, Jamie reaches into his pocket to pull out a small piece of paper. He clears his throat and begins to speak.
"Jade," He pauses. "If someone would have told me that I would end up falling in love and marrying my next-door neighbor and best friend, I wouldn't have believed them. I guess it wasn't until I saw you with one of my best friends that I finally realized my feelings for you. Seeing you with someone that wasn't me was extremely hard and I knew from that day forward that I would work my hardest to get you to fall for me." I hear some awe's in the audience as Jamie starts another sentence. "I finally got you all to myself and I don't plan on letting you go... ever. I can't promise you that I won't make mistakes, and I also can't promise you that we won't fight, but I can promise you that I will love you even in our darkest moments and even when you don't feel like I love you. I fought to get you and I will continue to fight to keep you in my life. I can't live without you. You're my missing puzzle piece and the one that I truly love, the one who I can't seem to get out of my mind. I love you so much, Jade. I can't wait to start this new chapter of our lives together."
Tears fall from my eyes as he speaks his words that he has written for me, and only me. I honestly don't remember my own vows, because they weren't nearly as beautiful his. Jamie has promised me the most he could ever promise me, reassuring my decision to marry him in the first place.
"I now pronounce you husband and wife." Jamie and I smile at one another. "You may now kiss the bride." The priest tells Jamie.
Jamie places his hands on either side of my face and pulls in closer to place his lips onto mine. After a few seconds, he pulls away before anything could get too intense in front of our friends and family.
We walk down the aisle, hand in hand, and escape to a private room as we wait for our guests to be moved into the reception hall. Jamie closes the door behind him and engulfs me into a hug.
"We're finally married." He breathes in disbelief.
"Yeah, we are." I smile as he squeezes me tighter. He releases his hold on me and I lean back to put my lips onto his.
About ten minutes later, Jamie's brother, Jordie, walks into the room, interrupting Jamie and I. We pull back quickly, looking over to see who's at the door.
"Jordie, what are you doing here?"
"We're ready when you are." He informs us, referring to the guests awaiting our reappearance in the reception room.
Jordie leaves us alone in the room and Jamie looks down at me.
"You ready?" He asks me.
I nod my head as he takes my hand to lead me to the reception room. We are greeted with loud applause as we take our seats in the front of the room.
Soon after, the music begins to play and Jamie and I make our way around the room, saying hello to all our family and friends.
The long night ends fairly quickly, but it was definitely one to be remembered. Everything went as planned and there was no drama with Tyler. Not at all. At least, not yet...
