New Beginning

Chapter 6

Two days went by faster than you'd hoped. Faye was excited to see her new friend and you were happy for her, but there was an immense amount of pressure on you to please her new friends' mother.

You've had the maids work overtime to make sure everything was spotless. It was rather fortunate that you only came with a few bags so there wasn't much to unpack.

You've also gotten closer to Nora within the past two days as she helped with organizing h organizing what to serve for dinner and giving out tasks to the rest of the maids. You don't know what you would've done without her. You probably would have faked being sick just to avoid the situation.

"Lady Flora?" Nora called out. "You're overthinking again."

You sighed deeply. "I know. I just hope this goes well. This is nothing like a regular dinner/hangout that I'm used to. I don't want to disappoint Al - ahem - Lady Dimitrescu."

"I'm sure she'll enjoy herself. There's no need to worry. Some of us here have worked with her before so we know how she can get, but we spent the last two days perfecting this. Nothing should go wrong." She reassured you.

"Thank you, dear. I appreciate all of your help." You smiled warmly.

"You're welcome, my Lady. I'm going to go help the rest of the maids get started on dinner. It would serve you best to start getting ready now as Lady Dimitrescu and her daughters will be here within the next hour." She rose to her feet. "And don't you dare overthink what you are going to wear. You'll look beautiful no matter what. I'll be back here in around thirty to check on you." She said grabbing your hands to make sure you looked at her when she spoke.

"Can't make any promises, but I'll try."

"That's all that matters, my Lady."

When Nora left you got up and went through your closet to find something to wear. You didn't want to overdo it because it was just dinner and you and Alcina's daughters hanging out- but you also didn't want to be too casual.

You decided to go in just a simple wine-colored bodycon dress and low pumps. Your hair was still straightened from yesterday, so you just left alone and applied your regular everyday makeup.

Nora came back for you, and you went with her to check in on how things were in the kitchen. It smelled amazing and by the sound of your stomach rumbling, you were also starving.

"How much longer?" You asked the maids.

"Should only be thirty more minutes, my Lady." A young girl spoke.

"Great. Keep up the good work." You smiled at the group of girls cooking.

Food being almost done meant Alcina and her daughters were nearly arriving. You heart was starting to pound out of your chest. What if you missed something? It's too late for that now.

"Mamá is Dani here yet?" Faye came down the stairs yelling.

"Dani? Already with the nicknames I see. No, she's not, but she should be here any moment now. Don't worry."

"Aren't you happy you get to see Lady Dimitrescu again?" She teased.

"It's nice that she's joining us, yes."

"You know that's not what I meant. I asked are you happy to see her."

"You want me to say 'yes' don't you?" Faye smirked quickly. "Fine. Yes, I'm happy to see her but it isn't like that."

"Sureee. Whatever helps you sleep at night."

"I sleep just fine thank you very much." You rolled your eyes.
