Long ass chapter !
SOLEA
As Solea sat straddled on Sante's lap, her fingers absently played with the buttons of his shirt, an attempt to distract herself from the weight of his words.
Her mind was a whirlwind of thoughts, trying to come to terms with the layers of deceit that now surrounded them.
"Is he... is he here?" she whispered, her voice trembling with a mix of fear and resignation. She barely wanted to know the answer but felt the need to ask.
She looked up through her lashes, her eyes searching his for reassurance. Sante's gaze softened at her vulnerable state, his intense study of her helped calm her racing heart. He watched her chest rise and fall, his eyes gentle yet alert.
"Yes" he responded, his chin tilting up as her fingers traced the strong line of his jaw.
Her hands seemed to become magnets, drawn to the contours of his face, his neck, his shoulders. She felt anchored by the solidity of him, even as her world threatened to spin out of control.
Biting the corner of her moisturized lips, she contemplated his response. Timidly, while rubbing his jawline, she asked "What is your plan?"
A deep hum resonated from within Sante's chest as he kept his gaze fixed on her, a look that made her nervous yet comforted. "It's so much... anger built in whenever I hear that man's name. From him hurting you... my buisness... somebody messing with my money, something i rebuilt. So seeing his face—" He stopped mid-sentence to chuckle deeply, rubbing his chin as his eyes momentarily strayed from hers.
"Let's just say having him in my presence isn't the safest place he could be right now" he murmured, his voice laced with intensity as he gazed at her.
His eyes always found there way back to her, always admiring and gazing at her. Solea knew it was time to drop the subject— only for the moment. She leaned down and gently kissed his plump lips, breathing in through her nose before leaning back up.
Their lips met in a slow, deliberate kiss that spoke of both comfort and unspoken promises. In that kiss, Solea felt the storm within her calm, her fears moment
While gazing into his eyes, Solea wanted to let it be known that she was on his side. Whatever he needed to get done, she wouldn't stand in his way. Though she wasn't entirely comfortable with the often brutal consequences of his anger, she understood the seriousness of his work—work that was passed down from his father, a man he deeply respected.
Grazing her fingertips down his chest, Solea's gaze followed her French-tipped nails as they traced the contours of his muscles. "I want you to know that I'm not against you on this" her voice soft but resolute.
She searched his eyes, seeing the tension within those black orbs slowly release. Physically, she could see him become less rigid, his posture softening ever so slightly.
