Harry and Ron arrived at the Burrow just in time for dinner, usually Molly would meet them at the station but floo powder was easier when everywhere was so crowded and chaotic during the holiday season.
Molly came and hugged the children, making sure the two were ok before calling Fred and George to help carry the bags upstairs. As the twins came over they both looked around in confusion, they went to question a certain curly haired woman's absence but Harry shook his head and Ron told them to leave it.
The boys were all upstairs, helping Harry and Ron unpack. George could tell his brother was worrying so spoke up,
"So where's 'Mione? She promised to be here for my-our birthday" he added with a sly smile at the end.
Ron looked to Harry, "they'll end up knowing eventually anyway" he shrugged.
"Today's the...anniversary? I guess that's the word, of when she wiped her parents memories. Each year she goes and visits the house, to make sure they're still ok"
Fred and George looked at each other sadly, they knew what Hermione had done but it wasn't until moments like this they realized how appreciative they should be to have their family, despite any flaws, because not everyone got the love they did.
"Does she want to be alone?" Fred asked,
"She says she does, but I think that's just her way of not wanting us to see her upset"
Fred nodded, "I'll be back" he got up and nodded to George before leaving back down the stairs. The rest of his family were sitting in the living room, chatting amongst each other. Fred smiled at them,
"You alright son?" His dad looked at him confused, tilting his head as Fred just nodded, still happy.
"Yeah I'm alright, I'm just going to head out real quick, I'll be back"
Fred hopped into the fireplace and whispered Hermione's street, Molly stood up and flayed her arms.
"Where are you- and he's gone."

Hermione sat on the stone corner, looking at her watch, any minute her parents would arrive home from work and she'd see them for this one time each year. Sure enough, Hermione was right, a car pulled up into the driveway and out came her parents.Hermione crossed her arms over her body, it was actually freezing but she didn't want to leave. It wasn't until that moment she saw a familiar face, leaning against the street sign.
"Bit cold to be sitting out here, isn't it?"
"What are you doing here?" Hermione smiled, she wasn't disappointed to see Fred but she had asked to be alone.
"Wanted to see which parent you look most like"
Hermione rolled her eyes, "I don't think I look like either to be honest"
Fred came and sat next to her, Hermione smiled, he was clearly freezing but was trying to hide it. They watched her parents hug each other and put presents under the tree.
"Watch this. They're going to dance, my mum will laugh as my dad dips her only for her to realize the star on the tree is starting to fall off, she'll fix it and then they'll smile at each other like everything's right in the world..."
Hermione's voice trailed off at the end, but she still kept her eyes fixed on the window. Fred put his arm around her and watched as well, not to his surprise Hermione was right as usual and they did in fact look at each other the way she'd described. Fred watched Hermione smile, despite them never being able to know, she still cared for her parents deeply and wanted nothing but the best for them.
