CHAPTER 3 – breakfast pizza
Scarlet laid awake in her bed, her sisters light snoring being the only sound that she could hear apart from a few cars and arguing from next door. She watched as the light illuminating from headlights of cars shone through the windows and curtains.
She could smell the alcohol coming from the living room as her dad snored asleep in front of the tv, that was blaring some war show. She groaned and slipped out of bed, peeked out of the hallway, and checked the time on the clock that was mounted on the hallway wall.
The clock read 7am. She sighed and snuck out of her room. She did not have school today considering it was Sunday, but she still decided to get up early. She snuck out of her bedroom and walked over to the main area, which was only two steps away, and to her surprise here dad was not even in there.
She sighed and started to make her way to the main area when she heard her mums giggles echoing in her bedroom. She walked up to her parents' bedroom door, and she pressed her ear against it.
She heard her mother's flirty tone and her fake giggles and also... a man's voice that was not her fathers... The man's voice was deep and sounded like he smoked twenty cigarettes a day.
She sighed and walked into the kitchen rubbing her eyes tiredly, as she pulled open the fridge, she groaned quietly and uttered to herself "I need to go shop" she closed the fridge door and opened a cupboard that only had a loaf of bread.
She clicked her tongue and put two slices in the toaster and tried to toast them, but they kept popping back up. She groaned loudly and heard the door to her mums bedroom opening.
"What all the noise about?" she spoke her words slurred and she tied her road up tightly. "Sorry mum..." scarlet sighed throwing the two slices of bread in the packet again.
"Toasters broke?" her mum questioned stumbling over to the toaster and lazily pushing the handle and watching it pop back up over and over again.
"So... what's this one's name?" scarlet asked her mother as she unplugged the toaster from the socket.
"Harold... or craig... I cannot remember" her mum hiccupped taking a beer for the fridge and stumbling back into her room again.
"of course you can't" scarlet sighed walking back to her bedroom to see her sister still asleep.
She smiled to herself and shook her sisters shoulder. "Wake up lucy bear..." scarlet spoke softly as her sister slowly stirred awake.
"To early" her sister muttered out as she pulled the covers over her face...
Scarlet sighed and wrecked her brain for something to persuade her sister to wake up. "How about pizza for breakfast?" scarlet smirked as her sisters head peaked up form under the covers.
"No pepperoni?" lucy asked her voice a mere mutter.
"Yes, no pepperoni" scarlet chuckled as lucy hoped out of bed.
"Yes, pizza for breakfast!" she exclaimed and ran into the living room.
"Get dressed!" scarlet shouted to her sister as she came sprinting back into the bedroom, scarlet chuckled and left the room to let her sister get changed.
She walked into the living room and shuffled over to the couch sticking her hand down the side for any change she could find, and then she noticed her mums bag on the side.
She walked over to it and took out $10 before quickly closing it and putting it where it was. As her sister came skipping out the bedroom.
"You ready?" scarlet asked as she opened the front door for her sister to excitedly skip out of.
