Chapter Three- Gone

Alaska's POV

I huff crossing my arms over my chest.

"You didn't need to pick me up" I say.

"Yes I did" Rich says.

"Why?" I ask grumpily.

"Because I need to tell you something" Rich says seriously.

"What is it? Why couldn't you just tell me when I got home tomorrow?" I ask.

"Because she'll be gone by the time you get home tomorrow" Rich says.

I furrow my eyebrows in confusion.

"What? Who will be gone?" I ask.

"Your mother, she's been cheating on me" Rich says.

I look over at him shocked and sad, my eyes beginning to water.

"What?" I ask.

I notice the tears rolling down his face as he drives down the highway.

"S-She wouldn't do that....she wouldn't" I say.

"She's leaving" Rich sniffles.

"How do you know?" I ask.

"I found a plane ticket, divorce papers, and 10k in her night stand" Rich said.

"Wait...j-just one plane ticket?" I ask.

Rich nods. "She's leaving us."

"But she wouldn't leave me? She can't!" I say.

"Well she is, she's coming home late tonight" Rich sniffled.

My whole life has been shattered. No.

My mum can't leave me! My dad is gone! I can't lose my mum too! Rich pulled into the drive way and we got out of the car and headed inside.

*2am*

I was awoken to the sound of a car horn honking loudly and the sound of the front door shutting.

I rub my sleepy eyes before I realise what is happening and my eyes widen as I run to my
window. I quickly look out my window and watch as my mother runs down the driveway with her suit case.

She puts the bag in the trunk before running back towards the house. I run out of my room and downstairs.

The front door opens and close. There's some shuffling before it opens and closes again. I quickly run towards the front door and pull it open.

"Mum!" I cry.

She stops as she's about to get in the car and turns to me. A tear streams down her face as she quickly gets in the car and it drives away.

"No" I whisper.

I run to the end of the drive way sobbing. Tears streamed down my face.

"No no no" I cry.

I run back inside and upstairs almost tripping over my own two feet. I run into mum and Rich's room, well now just Rich's room I guess.

"Rich!" I cry.

Rich quickly but sleepily sat up.

"Alaska? What's wrong?" he asked.

"S-She's gone, she left, mum left!" I cry.

"Why would she leave me?" I sob.

Richard pulls me into his arms and I sobbed into his shoulder.

"I-I...how could she leave us?" I cry.

I sob into his shoulder for what seems like only a couple minutes but it was actually a couple hours.

*Nobody's POV*

After hours of crying into her step fathers shoulder Alaska fell asleep. Rich stroked Alaska's hair as silent tears streamed down his face.

His alarm for work went out off and Alaska stirred in her sleep letting out a groan.

Richard turned off his alarm before he picked up Alaska's sleeping body and carried her to her room laying her in her bed and pulling her blankets over her body.

He kissed her forehead before going to her desk and grabbing a piece of paper. He wrote Alaska a note leaving it beside her head.

He went downstairs and called Alaska's schooling saying Alaska had an appointment and wouldn't be at school today. He then grabbed his car keys before getting in the car and heading to work.

*5 Hours Later*
Alaska's POV

I slowly open my eyes groaning, I role over and check the time 10am. I sigh and spot a note. I pick it up reading.

Alaska, I've called the school and told them you had an appointment, you don't have to go today, I had to go to work, I'll see you tonight, Rich

I sigh as theirs a knock at the front door. I slowly get out of bed and walk downstairs opening the door.

"Hey you weren't at school and weren't answering your phone so I came to see if you were okay" America said.

I give her a small smile and motion for her to come in. She follows me upstairs and into my room. We sit down on my bed and my eyes begin to water and tears stream down my face.

"Alaska oh my god are you crying!? What's wrong!?" Ame asked quickly hugging me.

I never cry. The last time I cried was when I found out I had cancer but the last time I cried in front of my friends was when my dad died.

"My mum left" I sob.

"What? Like left, left as in packed up and left?" America asks.

I nod. "She was cheating on Rich and ran away with her new boyfriend."

"She left me" I sob.

"My mum left me."

"Alaska I am so sorry" America said hugging me tightly.

*2 Hours Later*

"Do....do you want me to tell the others?" America asks.

I shake my head. Ame nods before saying good bye and leaving. I lay down in my bed and sob. Why is everything bad happening to me?
