chapter 5

Yuki’s POV

I woke up from blacking out. I stood up. I Managed not to fall down as I got up. I grabbed my head where I got hit. My head hurt so I started to walk home. I didn’t find the creature so I decided to try and look for it tomorrow.

The next morning I woke up and my head felt better. I got up and put on my school uniform and walked down stairs. I checked the time on my phone and saw I was going to be late for school if I didn’t start going to school. “Bye mom,” I said as I ran out of the house. I closed the door to the house and ran to the bus stop. I got on the bus and when I arrived at school I ran to my class room.

We had to do a presentation I had thought about doing it on wars. I had managed to finish my presentation. I saw a kid named Ren walk up to the front of the class and present. When he was almost done with presenting he mentioned that people were killed in wars. He mentioned that he had experienced a person he loved die in war. I saw him start to cry. He managed to keep a smile on his face despite him crying. When he was done he sat down at his desk. I felt bad for him.

 “Yuki,” I heard someone say.

“Yeah,” I looked at the teacher who called my name.

“Come up and present,” He said in a calm voice. I walked to the front of the class. “My presentation is also about wars. When we have war, innocent people risk their lives to fight for us. Many people experience separated families because a family member goes to war.” I said I got nervous but took a breath and continued with my presentation. “Also when we have war some families and people don’t have things they need so they can take care of themselves. If we didn’t have wars then people everywhere would benefit from it. I don’t like that we have wars and you shouldn’t either.” 

My voice started to quiver. “I wish that wars everywhere would stop because they are bad for everyone.” I said as I finished my presentation. I could see that Ren was looking at him. When I saw him looking at me he looked away. I walked back to my desk and sat down. After the last people presented we went to lunch. 

I sat at a table by myself. I ate my food by myself but I saw someone set their lunch tray across from mine. I looked up from my lunch tray and I saw Ren. “Why are you here?” I said a little defensively.

“Woah woah calm down,” He said with a smile “ I am here because I wanted to sit here. Is that okay with you?” Ren asked me.

“Yeah it's fine,” I said as I calmed down.

“Good,” He said as he sat down in a seat across from me. I just kept eating my lunch as I didn’t say a word. “Are you okay?” He asked me with a worried tone but still smiling.

“I am fine,” I said in a calm voice.

“Then why do you sound like you're mad at me?” He asked.

“Well I am not,” I said, a little irritated. I finished my food and dumped my tray. Then put my tray away. I sat back down at the table. I pulled out my notebook and started to draw in it.

“What are you drawing?” He asked curiously as he leaned over the table and tried to look in my notebook.

“Why are you so nosey!?” I asked very irritated.

“I am not nosey, I am curious,” he said with a smile. I put my notebook away. Then I started to walk back to class.

“Hey wait up!!!,” he yelled as he quickly dumped his tray and followed me to our class. He walked next to me to our class. He had a bright smile on his face. We walked into the classroom And we sat at our desks.

After school I walked to the bus and he walked with me. “Bye Yuki,” he said before I got onto the bus then he ran off.
