"Wakey wakey, sleepy head" I say, pouncing on top of my baby sisters bed. Well she isn't technically my "baby" sister. She is only 4 years younger than me. Which reminds me (I didn't forget) that today is her thirteenth birthday.
"Get up, we're skipping school today birthday girl. Where do you want to go" I yell from her closet rummaging through her clothing articles, in search for the perfect outfit, for the perfect day, for the perfect girl. We always skip school on birthdays and things that are important to us because, who wants to be at school on their birthday?
"No" she grumbles , muffled by the pillow covering her face. "Go away, let me sleep." Well that girl does love her shut eye. Oh well. Sleeping beauty is about to be awakened.
"Come on, Natalia" I whine, "it's a beautiful day. Let's go do something for your birthday. Pleaseee. My little baby is growing up so fast, I can only spend so much time with you before I have much time left. Get up" I grab her feet, that are poking out from the blue and pink comforter, and pull. Causing her to fall on the wooden floors with a loud thud. She jerks her head up and glares at me."Ow, don't call me that, Cecilia" she says, rubbing her back before getting up and stripping. (were sisters, trust me, I've seen more than that) She pulls on the outfit I chose for her. Since it's fall, I chose a dull yellow skater dress with a black belt in the center, with black converses and a backwards black snap back for that boyish flare. She accessorizes with black bracelets. Awe, she looked like I did at her age. How cute. Satisfied with my work, I leave her to grab her things and head to my room to dress myself. I slip into my closet and pull on black leggings and a baggy mint green sweater, I add black combat boots to the look, along with my gold chain bracelet and my black beanie. I straighten my huge, curly hair and add some light makeup. Including mascara, eyeliner, and some concealer to hide my spots. I also swipe on some nude lipstick. I know that nude lipstick is dumb because it defeats the purpose of lipstick but I like it. I'm just weird like that, no offence. I grab my black canvas backpack, being I don't like to carry purses, and walk out of the door, phone in hand. My shoes pound against the hardwood floors as I scurry down the stair case.
"So... What do you want to do today" I ask Natalia.
"What about the mall" she suggests shrugging. We both get in my car and start off the pack territory for our out of school journey.---
"What about this" I say, pointing to a cute floral dress in the display window of another shop.
"Maybe, can I try it on"
"Of course" I say dragging her into the store to see how the dress looks. I promised her that anything she wanted that I would buy for her, no matter the price. It is her birthday after all. I didn't get her any presents because she likes to pick out her own things. I did to.
"Excuse me miss, can you get me a size 3 in that dress please" she asks the sales clerk and the elderly woman nods. Then directs her to the dress she is searching for. We both thank the woman before she turns and heads back to the counter, and walk over to the dressing rooms.
"Natalia, does it look good, let me see" I say knocking on the door.
"I... I love it" she says before walking out of the room and showing me. It is a sleeveless, knee-length dress that fits her curves then flares out at the waist. It zips up in the back with a gold zipper. ADORABLE.
"How much is it" I say and she looks down at the tag hanging from the dress. She looks up at me with wide eyes and rushes back into the dressing room to take it off, I assume. When she comes back out I look at the tag and back up at her. It was expensive, but she loved it and I promised to buy her everything she wanted.
"We can get it you know" I say.
"Really! Wait, it costs more than you have. I will just put it back" she says starting in the direction of the clothes rack. I quickly grab her arm, stopping her from returning the gorgeous dress.
"No, I made a promise that I plan on keeping, and I can afford it. I saved up a bit just in case you wanted something a little more expensive, and $75 dollars is right at the limit, so go check out and I'll be there in just a sec." I say, hesitating a bit, knowing that I will have to pay $15 of it in quarters. That'll be embarrassing.---
"That was so much fun, wanna watch a movie now" I ask flopping down on the couch, bags in hands.
"Totally, can we watch Orange is the new black?"
"Duh, that show is the best" I say clicking on the TV and switching it to Netflix. I run to the kitchen to make some popcorn while Natalia gets started in the show. When the popcorn is finished I put it in a big bowl and grab 2 sodas. Plopping down on the couch next to her I kick off my shoes and dig into the popcorn. I really love my sister. Before we left the mall, we got some lunch and shopped some more so we are POOPED. She got the dress and a few other things like shoes and pants. We stopped before we got back home and got some ice cream, substituting for cake because she doesn't like cake. I have lived with her my whole life and I still don't understand why, or how, she doesn't like cake. I mean, who doesn't like cake?! Well, I'm exhausted. I turn and look at the clock, it's almost midnight. How long have we been watching this? I turn to look at my baby sister and she is already fast asleep, clutching onto the pillow next to her. I turn off the television and slip into a deep slumber as well. I hope nobody minds that we are sleeping on the couch.---
