When you woke up the next day, somewhere in your head you refused to believe whatever happened last night was real. Few days ago you were working multiple part times, trying to make ends meet and today you are waking up in a mansion as a 'heir apparent' to a mob. Looking around your room which was a refection of the whole mansion, interior as subtle as possible but it was a hundred fold better than what you used to live in.
A knock on the door pulled you out of your thoughts, "Come in." you respond. "Good morning, are you settling in alright?" it was Hoseok, he was one of the nice ones, you had figured. "Getting used to it." you say, sitting up straight on your bed. "Do you mind?" he motioned towards the edge of the bed. "Yeah sure." he took a seat as soon as you said.
"There are somethings I wanted to talk about." you wait for him to continue. "What are you educational qualifications?" that was unexpected, "Well..." he noticed your hesitation, 'It's alright, you can tell me." he reassures. "I dropped out of high school because I didn't have enough for tuition. But I saved some money took the GED. It was quite simple as I never really struggled academically." you rely.
"Why didn't you apply for a scholarship?" he asks confused, "Nobody would want to give you money if a rumor gets around that you are the daughter of a thug who gambles and distributes drugs." you say with an awkward laugh, he looks sympathetic. "Don't give me that look of pity, I have made it so far just fine." you say looking away.
"I think you are brave and so you belong here, we all have our stories and how your father saved each one of us. You are his daughter after all." you notice how his lips turn into a heart when he smiles, "You believe me? Your friends think other wise." you say, content that at least Hoseok seems to trust your words.
"I don't think it's the fact that they don't believe you, I think they don't want to believe you." his words further confuse you, "I think they feel responsible for what happened to your father, it's just guilt talking." he clears himself. "Are they responsible for what happed?" you frown. "Oh they are not, trust me." you felt like you could trust him.
"Alright so coming back to what I was to ask, do you want to continue studying?" his question caught you off guard, "I can?", "Of course you can, our youngest, he is still in university, he rarely attends but as long as he gets the degree." Hoseok says chuckling. "Do you have any particular interests?" you take moment to ponder upon his question.
"I like art." you say shrugging. "An artist huh?" he nodes knowingly, "I like to paint mostly." you say further, "That's cool, I'll see what I can do about it. You won't mind attending a art school then, right? Although you might be on duty most of the time--" his words were cut off when you wrapped your arms around him.
"Thank you so much! I never thought I would..." you choke on you tears, happy tears, when was the last time you felt so happy that your heart could burst inside your chest? on the Ferris wheel. "It's alright, you are a part of us now, and we look after each other," he said patting your back. It was nice, comforting, he really cared.
You heard somebody clear his throat by the door way and you quickly let go of Hoseok. "Namjoon hyung wants everybody at the table for strategy building." you recognize him, he is not one of the nice ones. The person by the door continues to glare at you, if looks could kill, you'd be dead yesterday.
Luckily Hoseok reads the room, "We'll we downstairs in a minute Taehyung." he says and the younger takes the queue to leave. "Strategy building huh?" you say, "Oh he meant breakfast." Hoseok laughs, getting up. "See you downstairs." he says before leaving.

When you got downstairs, everyone was already sitting around the round table, there was food but it didn't feel like a breakfast. You took an empty seat next Jungkook, right across Jimin, something about the guy gives you the ick. "Take follow ups Jimin, this is the second time the shipment is late." Namjoon says and Jimin nods, "Those Japanese are up to no good, I never trusted the Yakuza to begin with." Yoongi comments.
"Give me sometime, I'll look into it." Jimin says taking a bite from his sandwich. "Just cut them off, we'll find somebody else." Yoongi argues. "I don't think it's logical to end partnership over late shipment, as long as the product is not manipulated from their end, things can still be talked out." everybody looked at you as if you spoke a foreign language.
"I agree." finally Seokjin spoke up cutting the awkward silence, "You need to calm down Yoongi." the older said which made the underboss glare at you. You felt a foot hit you from under the table, it didn't take you time to realize it was Jimin. "Don't meddle." his whisper was buried under the conversation that up roared after your suggestion.
"Alright then Suga, I need you to go back to the headquarters, there has been a bug in the system apparently." the boss orders, "The timing, a little convenient don't you think." Yoongi, whose alias was apparently 'Suga' insinuated throwing you a suspicious look. "Hoseok, you know what to do." Namjoon said, not paying attention to the words of the underboss to which Hoseok nodded.
"Jungkook, don't you have classes today?" the youngest looked at the boss, "Can't I skip just for today?" Jungkook pleaded, "If you keep this up, you won't be able to pass your end of semester tests." Seokjin warned the youngest who complied unwillingly. "Taehyung, why don't you take Rae to the training sessions? Knowing a little self defense always comes handy." Namjoon suggested.
"But why me? I-" Taehyung's protest was interrupted, "It wasn't a request." the boss said sternly, putting an end to the conversation. The capo looked away annoyed with his verbal defeat.

The training ground wasn't actually a ground, it was a run down boxing center. The moment you entered following Taehyung, you noticed the dimly lit area filled with hanging sand bags, gym equipment and a average sized boxing ring in the middle. Something that you also noticed was that the place was filled with men in their mid 30s roaming around in track pants and white vests, ink covering their bulky bodies as they bowed to someone who was so much younger than them. In this world, power decides the amount of respect you get not your age.
It didn't take them long to notice you with the young capo, probably the first time a woman walked in here, you figured. You felt a chill run down your spine, noticing the ogling directed towards you. Subconsciously you hid your body behind your companion, "What do you think you are doing?" he turns to you annoyed.
"Looks like you brought us dinner sir." one of them commented which was followed by more catcalls and suggestive statements, your hand turned into fists and your skin felt like it was on fire. Taehyung finally seemed to take a hint, "This is the heir of your organization that you are throwing your lewd comments at." he says out loud and the place goes quiet.
"And if the word gets out of these four walls, I will pick each one of you and make sure this would be the last time you see her." his voice was dark, heavy, something in you felt that he actually would kill these people, he just seemed that kind of person. The kind that had blood on his hands but then again don't they all. You looked at the men who now won't raise their heads to look at you.
"All of you, out." the capo ordered and they file out of the place. You watch as Taehyung reached and picked up a pair of boxing gloves. "The first thing I believe about self defense is that you have to remove the fear of getting hurt. You can't defend yourself if you are afraid you'd get hit." the enters the boxing ring and tosses the gloves to you, motioning you to enter the ring.
You wear the gloves and enter the ring, he put on his gloves. "Make your hit, swing at me." you pulled your hand up to your chest wanting to throw a hardest punch that you could but you froze, fear. And before you knew, a boxing glove in your peripheral vision came in contact with the side your face and you fell to the ground.
That was the hardest somebody had punched you in the face, you were familiar with the concept of pain because you had felt it but never to this magnitude. A physical pain so intense that it numbs the sense of fear.
And you had felt numb ever since.

I hope the few of you that are reading are liking it so far, I can't wait to share the rest of the story with you.
Also, Rae is a year older than Jungkook and she is currently 20 years old that makes Jungkook the youngest i.e 19 years old, he is also a freshman in college.
