Marie Antoinette, the last queen of France before the French Revolution, was born on November 2, 1755, in Vienna, Austria. Her birth took place during a period of significant political and cultural change in Europe.
Marie Antoinette was born as Maria Antonia Josepha Johanna to Francis I, Holy Roman Emperor, and Empress Maria Theresa of Austria. She was the 15th and penultimate child of her parents. The Habsburg family, to which she belonged, was one of the most powerful and influential royal families in Europe, ruling over extensive territories.
As a daughter of the Holy Roman Emperor and the Empress, Maria Antonia was raised in the opulent and politically charged environment of the Habsburg court.
