Charlotte

I open my eyes to the sunlight shining brightly in my face.

Today is officially Lena's birthday and I feel like I have so much to do. Last night Lena and I had a sleepover and we had a few drinks. Ok maybe not a few, but it was a reasonable amount. Not the point where I have a hangover though. I can manage.

I look over to my right as I see Lena is still fast asleep in our matching pink silky pajamas that I bought us. One thing about me and Lena, is that we were total opposites in the morning.
While I woke up early, she liked to sleep in. And of course Lena is also very grumpy in the mornings, which I can't blame her for.

Who even likes waking up when you can sleep?

I then quietly and quickly removed the covers off of me and softly landed my feet on the floor beside my bed, before I put on my house slippers and headed out of the room.

I quickly ran downstairs trying to lighten my footsteps with each step I took, afraid I might wake up Lena before I could even surprise her.

As I reached the last step, I then made my way to the kitchen where the whole place was decorated in light pink decor.

Her presents were laid on the counter perfectly assembled in pretty wrapping paper. And right next to the presents I put her favorite flowers, tulips in a vase so she could have them. Streamers hung around the area and balloons were tied in a bunch beautifully on both ends of the counter.

Last night after Lena was fast asleep, which I made sure of, I started working on setting up the kitchen for her surprise. Although I got very few hours of sleep because of it, I know it would all be worth it for the look on Lena's face when she saw the whole place set up.

I did this every year for her and I honestly never get tired of it. I love decorating and planning out the whole thing secretly even if Lena knew what I was planning to do. Plus it's not like I have anyone else to do this for, so why not do it for Lena?

I quickly made my way around the counter towards my fridge to continue working on my dough for cinnamon rolls I would be preparing for breakfast.

I quickly took out the dough I had prepared the day before along with a few other ingredients and got to working.
I then rolled the dough out, seasoned, rolled again, and then cut up the pieces before I placed each piece in a pan and slid them into the oven so they could be ready before Lena woke up.

As I waited for the rolls to bake I quickly prepared the frosting, along with some coffee.
You can never go wrong with coffee. Lena and I were true addicts.

As I waited I prepared a plate and her utensils. After letting the rolls bake for about 20 minutes, I finally took them out of the oven and prepared them by slathering the white thick frosting on top of them. Then, I cut two pieces out, one for Lena, and one for me. Afterwards, I quickly darted to the fridge and grabbed some berries such as blueberries and strawberries and sprinkled a few on the top and to the side.

Perfect.

I quickly put everything onto a tray and gathered the tray and made my way out of the kitchen, down the hallway and then upstairs carefully balancing the tray in my hands, making sure nothing fell over.

As I made my way to my door, I quickly placed down the tray on the floor to open the door to a still sleeping Lena.

I then grab the tray from the floor and enter the room carefully, making sure I don't drop the tray, "HAPPY BIRTHDAY LENA!" I yell out.

Lena then slowly rises as she rubs her eyes slowly opening up her eyes to the sight of me with breakfast in my hands. "Holly shit I love your cinnamon rolls. My mouth is literally watering." Lena says excitingly in her croaky morning voice, extending out her arms to reach for her meal.
