"You promised me!" I yell at Husk. I know I just sound like an angry man, but the hurtful tone that hides underneath is real. I pound my fist against the wall, cracking some of the foundation. "WE had a deal, Husk! What the fuck do you think you're doing?!" As I yell that last sentence I can hear my disguised voice crack, my true voice slipping out.

"You made a deal with an overlord." Alastor states calmly, making my attention focus back on him. "If he wins, your deal is still intact. If he loses, he's no longer an overlord. But don't worry... darling." Of course he would catch the voice slip up. The fucking conniving psychopath. "Regardless of how this works out, your soul will still belong to an overlord. If it works out in my favor..." He laughs as his neck inhumanly cracks to the side, still looking at me. "... then I can't wait to see what you can do."

A growl grows in my throat, my hands are fisted in anger. Is there anything that's preventing me from punching Alastor in the face?

"Don't." I swear Husk can read my mind. He has one hand held out in my direction as if that would hold me back. But he has a point. Alastor is powerful and I'd honestly probably stand no chance against him. I don't want to die here.

I hear Husk sigh before he picks up the next set of cards. "My luck has to turn around. It just has to." He says quietly, though both Alastor and I can hear him.

"Husk, I don't think that's how this works." I say calmly. I don't bother with voice distortion anymore since it doesn't matter. I alter my appearance one more time from a bulky hellhound to a smaller crimson colored female imp. This way I'm still disguised from Alastor but at least the voice makes a little more sense.

"We're in Hell, Husk. No one cares about us or our streak of luck. Luck doesn't exist here." I explain to him.

"I beg to differ." Alastor laughs, his neck back to normal as he looks at his cards. "I've had great luck since I've been here." He rubs in.

"Your luck will run out someday, Alastor." I threaten, hands again fisted in anger. I probably don't seem very threatening to him.

"Maybe even today." Husk laughs as he puts his cards down. I've learned a bit about the game since I've started working in the casino, and his hand is not bad. There are a few other hands that could still beat it, but odds are... I'd say... 33% he'd lose at this point. Not bad odds at all. "Unless you have a pretty high two pair, straight, full-" Husk begins, his voice full of confidence.

"House?" Alastor interrupts him with a question as he puts his cards down. Sure enough, the cards Alastor had put down created a full house, cards that created a combination that outranked the cards that Husk had.

"No..." I mutter, though I know it's loud enough for both of them to hear. "No no no no no." I feel like I'm spiraling. I fall to my knees, and I can feel my eyes watering up. This is pathetic. I worked so hard for so long to avoid this fate. A decision that was out of my control is going to change everything.

"I'm... so sorry." Husk says to me. He sounds sincere. He stands up and starts walking towards me. Once he's only a few steps away a green glow appears around him. The glow soon materializes into a chain that wraps around his neck, making him stop in his tracks. "Fuck!" He growls.

Alastor is laughing harder than I've ever heard him laugh. He's holding his stomach like he can't stop. In his other hand is the other end of the green chain that's attached to Husk. "Absolutely entertaining!" He laughs.

"Run!" Husk yells at me, trying to pull the new collar he has off him. He's not making any progress unfortunately.

I don't need him to say it twice, his yell was all the motivation I need to get up and get moving. I push myself up and run as quickly as I can to the door, reaching for the doorknob. As my hand reaches out, I can see the green glow around me and feel the cold metal around my neck. But if I make it in time... if I can just open this door!

"Nice try, darling." I hear his staticky voice before I feel the pull around my neck. The involuntary yelp that leaves my throat makes Alastor laugh again as I fall to the ground. All I see as I look up is Alastor towering over me, holding the other end of the green glowing chain that now connects me to him. Fuck me.

"Now, I have use for Husker. You on the other hand..." Alastor begins as he starts pulling on the chain. This forces me to stand up. Alastor is still so much taller than I am, looking down at me. "Tell me why I shouldn't just add your screams to my broadcast." He demands.

"Do it!" I challenge. I'd rather that than be in his clutches for the remainder of my afterlife.

The way Alastor's antlers grow in size and his eyes slowly change to radio dials is a bit frightening. "Gladly." That static in his voice seems to have gone up a notch as his head slowly tilts sideways. This is it; this is where my existence ends.

"She's a shapeshifting con artist!" Husk yells, interrupting Alastor's process of adding me to his radio broadcast. He still keeps hold of me but looks back over to Husk. He still has the same green chain around his neck, but Alastor isn't using it against him at this moment. Probably because Husk isn't fighting back as much as I am.

"Elaborate." Alastor commands, still keeping a tight hold on my chain.

"She can shapeshift into anyone. She can infiltrate any company or building without being detected. She can steal money, secrets, plans, whatever you need from whoever you want. You can send her to do your dirty work and remain safely away from the action." Husk clarifies.

"Husk! Shut up!" I growl at him. I know what he's trying to do, but I don't appreciate it as much as he thinks.

"Hm." Alastor hums, looking back at me. "Show me your true form." He demands.

I sigh, defeated. What else am I going to do right now? I shift back into my real form. The red demonic fox features along with my true figure and height now on full display. My ears are pinned to my head, it's obvious I'm afraid.

"You look... familiar." Alastor says slowly, his eyes narrowed at me. "What's your name?" He asks.

"...(y-y/n)" I stutter. Once the name clicks, I can see the features in his face change. He seems... excited.

"Oh! How lovely!" Alastor's voice seems different. It's obvious he remembers me. This isn't good!

He yanks on my chain once more, forcing me to take one step closer to him. Once I'm toe to toe with him, he takes his hand and lifts my chin to look up at him.

"I won't kill you, don't worry." He teases. "I won't let you get away again."
