Summer break.
THE GENTLE breeze gently caresses her soft, [haircolor] locks as she sits there, back resting against the tree the girl spent most of her childhood around. A sense of nostalgia filled the air as she recalled each and every happy memory that she could still remember. Their first attempt at a treehouse, watching it crash down just to try another time. Playing hide and seek, the smell of her mother's homebaked cookies lingering in the air, it was as if she went back in time to re-experience the past.
The past. That's what it was.
When you're smitten even their flaws seem like perfectly sculpted traits, complimenting the beauty inside and out. Whether the obliviousness you hold is a blessing or demise shall only be revealed once you're down the rabbit hole.
It is strange to think how a relationship built over the years, with hardships and happiness, pain, love and regret can turn into nothing but a delusion you imagined. How can someone throw it all away, just like that?
Now all that's left behind are faint memories of the past, paired along with another person that lost his spark because of cruelty, a dimmed star consumed by madness. A madness that only seemed to dim when she was around.
Finding comfort in one another was something she had never expected. Not from him, atleast. They weren't exactly polar opposites, but not really the same either. Their personalities didn't clash, yet at the same time it wasn't like they got along too well.
If you had told her all these years ago that it wasn't Sae Itoshi that heart belonged to, little [name] would've laughed in your face. She was head over heels, admirably "in love" since they were kids. Nothing but a superficial thought meddling in a kid's brain. They were never meant to be, and they were never meant to last. Instead, she found peace in Rin's silence, something she had never even dared to imagine.
