As the broom carried them along the sky, they heard calliope music in the distance.
"We're almost there!" Huck shouted. "Come on!"
And they flew all the way to the circus tent. They got off the broom, and Huck pulled off his Robin Hood hat, and put on a top hat.
"I look like the ringmaster!" he chuckled.
As he and Lyra went inside the tent, they saw circus animals practicing their tricks, including lions, tigers, monkeys, horses, elephants, dogs, and seals. There was even a dancing bear! There were also clowns, practicing their acts too!
"Look how fun this is!" the hound beamed.
"Yeah, it looks like a great time!" Lyra exclaimed.
Just then, a friendly clown came over to Huck. "Hey, hound dog! Watch this!"
The clown made his way over to another clown, asked him to smell the flower on his shirt, and... SQUIRT! The flower sprayed the other clown with water! Huck was laughing really hard at the funny moment.
"AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! I love clowns! They're HILARIOUS!!"
As soon as Huck stopped laughing, he asked the clown, "Excuse me, but can I be part of the show too?"
"Sure!" the clown replied. "The more the merrier! What can you do?"
"Me? Shucks! I can do a lot of things!" Huck grinned. "It's just hard to choose an act!"
"I can dance," Lyra said. "See?"
Lyra pulled out a ribbon and started to dance around, while Huck watched. He was impressed by all the twirling and jumping and other tricks she could do! He applauded as she stopped and gave a curtsy.
"That was great!" he said. "You're a talented dancer!"
"Thanks!" Lyra replied. "What sorts of things did you say you could do, Huck?
"Well, let's see. Maybe I could try a few different things and try to make up an act!"
Huck looked around for a moment, giving it some thought, then he walked over to a giant circus ball, and stood on top of it. He pulled out some bowling pins, and he began to juggle them.
"Juggling on a circus ball is actually pretty easy!" he said as he walked on the ball. "Just as long as I don't need to ride a unicycle. I'm not as good at that."
After he finished his juggling act, he walked on the ball, rolling it over to the lion cage, then slid right off the giant ball. He tipped his hat and said, "Howdy, Mr. Li-ron!"
The lion looked at Huck through the bars of his cage and... "RRRROOOOAAARR!!"
The hound made a sheepish grin, and tried to laugh a little. "Ehehehehe..."
Lyra couldn't help but giggle a bit. "He doesn't look too happy to see you, does he?"
Huck swallowed hard. "I once tried to be a li-ron tamer, but...er...that didn't work out too well. I think I'll stick to the funny type of stuff."
Then he slowly backed away, and went over to join the clowns with their tricks. He ran over to a hula hoop, put it around his waist, and began to spin it, and wiggle his hips.
"Giggle while you wiggle!" Huck said, giggling. "Hula hooping sure is fun!"
"I love to hula hoop too!" Lyra smiled. She grabbed one of her own and started to spin it around herself. "Whew! I think it was a little easier when I was a little kid!"
"Aw, you're doin' great!" Huck replied. "There ain't nothin' to it!"
Once the two of them were tired out from hula hooping, they decided to go and visit some more of the animals. They watched the horses run around the ring, then they stopped to watch one of the seals try to play the horns! Huck couldn't help but join in by whistling along, and the seal soon started to play the same tune Huck was whistling: Clementine! That made Lyra break into more giggles over how adorable it was. Then they went to go and see the elephants. While they were there, a baby elephant spotted Huck and immediately let out a happy little trumpet.
