"Have you ever had any intense injuries while doing a sport?" Elijah asked

I wiped my mouth with a napkin and thought. "Oh yeah! My first year doing cheer was in the eighth grade."I said

"Tell me more," Elijah smirked as he took a sip of his drink.

"First time being a flyer, initially I was a backspot."I said, "Well, that got shut down quickly; I was dropped and broke my foot and ankle." I said

Elijah winced at my explanation: "Maybe I shouldn't have asked that while we're out eating." He said

"It was way worse than what I described, just so you know." I said, "Anyway, what about you? Any intense injuries?" I asked

"My freshman year, I was kind of tiny, and I was branded as the gay football player." Elijah said, "First game, I got tackled so hard I passed out. The guy broke my collarbone and my right arm."He said

"Oh yeah! I remember that we didn't know each other at all then." I said

"But my best revenge was the next year he tried to pull the same move, and I made sure that he was the one hurt in the end," Elijah said.

"Damn," I said with a laugh as I continued to eat my food. As I was eating, my phone buzzed.

"What is it?" Elijah asked

"Dang nosy," I smirked as I checked my phone.

I didn't register what I was looking at until I finished reading it. It was a text message from the cheer group chat, and it was a message from Rome. The message read, 'Hey! Since we still have to learn the dance we're doing at cheer camp, I thought maybe we could learn the dance, eat some food, and get in my pool'

"Is everything alright?" Elijah asked

"Yeah...I...I...Rome he texted in the GC that he wants to have a cheer party at his house." I said

Elijah sat back in his seat, and I could tell he was trying to find something to say, but I beat him to it.

"I'll be fine though; he's right, we need to learn the dance..."I said

"I would say you don't have to go, but you're captain. Do you want me to come with you?" Elijah asked

"No, I think I'll be fine; hopefully, that walking fish hook will have some decorum," I said.

Elijah laughed and smiled. "Alright, but if you need anything while you're there, just call me," Elijah said.

"Gotcha," I said with a nod.

The next day was way more anxious than I thought. I had Destiny ride with me, so I wouldn't turn around mid-drive. When we pulled up, my heart sank through the bottom of the seat.

"Destiny I don't think I can do it," I said.

"Boy," Destiny said.

"Destiny what! We all know what that sidewalk walker did to me, and it was messed up."

"But you can't hold it against him forever, plus this is for cheer," Destiny said.

"Ughh okay," I said as I dragged myself out of the car and grabbed my bag.

We walked in through the front door, which was unlocked, and the memories smacked me in the face. Rome has always been slightly more put off than me when it comes to finances, but I wipe the floor in every category when it comes to fashion, looks, personality, and loyalty.

"Hey, guys,Rome said.

"Hey Rome, where is everyone?" Destiny asked

"They're out back; you guys can change and come out when you're ready," Rome said.

"Okay, thanks!" Destiny smiled

I watched Rome walk off to his sliding door and out to his backyard.

"Well," I said.

"Yeah..."Destiny said

I walked towards Rome's bathroom and reached for the doorknob. Oddly enough, the door swung open without me even touching it. My eyes traveled upwards to the face that stood before me; it just had to be Dylan.

"Jules?" Dylan asked

I was too frozen to even speak or do anything. My eyes darted to Dylan's arms, which looked as if he were extending them out. Destiny quickly came to the rescue.

"Can you like to leave and stop being a weirdo?" Destiny said as she pushed him to the side and ushered me into the bathroom.

When I got in the bathroom, I sat on the toilet and just stared at the wall. I hadn't seen Dylan since the incident at the basketball game.

"You okay?" Destiny asked

"How bad of a captain would I be if I left right now?" I asked

Destiny sighed and leaned down to hug me. "Not that bad, because I would do the same." She said, "However, I don't think you should leave since you're the only person who knows the routine." She said

"You and Layla know it a little bit," I said.

"Not all of it," Destiny said.

"Ugh fine! Get out so I can change." I said

"Watch the attitude!" Destiny said as she walked out of the bathroom.

I changed into my swimming outfit and walked out of the bathroom. I waited for Destiny to change, and we made our way outside. Everyone was already outside in the pool.

"Alright guys, sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but it's time to learn the dance," I said to them, and I got a lot of aws in return.

I grabbed my pom-poms and already knew this was going to be a hassle, but it was worth it. After multiple tries, everyone got it for the most part, but it still needed some work.

"It needs some work, but it's good for now. I'll send videos in the group chat." I said

"I'm hungry. Is there any food?" Harper asked

"Yes! My parents were preparing hot dogs and hamburgers while we were out here; you guys can run in and get them." Rome said

Everyone rushed inside and got their food. I still hadn't said a word to Rome directly, unless he asked me a question while we were practicing the routine. I went back outside and sat down beside Landon to eat.

"That routine had you out of breath, huh."I joked

"For sure, you are quite the perfectionist, huh?" Landon asked

"Of course he is; would it be a Jules Routine if he wasn't a perfectionist?" Destiny asked

"Yeah, yeah, yeah." I said, "What did you guys think? Do you guys think it'll be good?" I asked

"Oh yeah, I loved it. Although you are a perfectionist, I think it helped you include everyone and everything," Landon said.

"Aww, that's so sweet." I smiled

The rest of the "party" went pretty well, and I enjoyed myself. The only thing that threw the party off was when Dylan ended up coming out. I feel like when he came out, everyone's energy shifted, but I toughed it out and ignored him. But I do wonder sometimes: how long can I ignore him?
