"Rachel is so bloated it's a wonder the tight-fitting outfit hasn't burst yet" someone whispered behind her, and Sky smiled involuntarily as she imagined the scene.
"I am Fleur. I hate sports too. If you stand at the end of the room, you will easily be able to skip at least half of the exercises. Moss only pays attention to the girls in the front row or at most the second row. I suspect that's because he doesn't wear glasses. And she definitely should have" added the girl and at the same time the teacher collided with the gymnastic ladder.
Skylar tried to hold back her laughter, but Fleur's subsequent comments were hilarious. This petite girl with skin as white as snow was quite a joker. Thanks to it, sports activities consisting in repeating exercises to the rhythm of music from the eighties became at least bearable. Even Lexie, who had suddenly appeared behind them, couldn't throw her off balance this time. They had a great time commenting on the behavior of the other participants of the classes. Looking at them from a distance, one could get the impression that they were just the three best friends giggling during PE class.
"I'm so hungry. Let's go to Peneloplate for fries!" Lexie suggested as they left the locker room.
"Where?"
"Peneloplate is the best spot in Rosenwand. You can eat there for pennies, and in addition they have the best cappuccino in the world."
"I think you meant to say it's the only place to eat outside of our school cafeteria" Fleur corrected, braiding her auburn hair. Her green eyes in the sunlight and took on an even more beautiful emerald shade.
"Let's go there, I need to get out of this school for a while" Sky decided, and they headed towards the gate.
Rosenwand students were allowed to leave the school premises from 3 to 7 pm. Everyone had to be in the building just before dinner, and Principal Muelphie checked the attendance list every night.
Walking along the main street of Rosenwand for the first time, Skylar wondered what her next few months would be like. Will she really be forced to spend this time in some gloomy castle, in a town on a hill, where you can't even use the Internet?
"What are you guys doing here?" She turned suddenly to Lexie and Fleur.
"We're going to the Peneloplate, you decided so."
"No, I mean... What are you doing in a town like Rosenwand? You know, after school?"
"Well, there's not much to do here, but I assure you it's not as boring as it sounds" Fleur replied after a moment's thought.
"Director Muelphie will announce the theme for the integration ball next week" Lexie added excitedly, gazing dreamily up at the cloudless sky.
"Ah, right" Fleur admitted "I went to the ball last year and it was wonderful! Amazing food, beautiful gowns, tuxedos and live music. Dancing, arguing, brawling and of course gossip, the only thing missing was popcorn. Rachel Rickman dumped her boyfriend while he was flirting with her now ex-friend in the middle of the dance floor. It is said that she plucked out a whole lock of her hair that has not grown back so far, which is why Bianca wears her hair slicked to one side. Nick Peller took Annie McFolley with him, but she was drunk into unconsciousness, so the three boys had to carry her upstairs so that Muelphie wouldn't see it. The headmistress found out anyway and went crazy. Totally entertaining, I tell you. Did I mention the food was delicious?
Sky laughed out loud.
"If there's anything that could convince me to attend this ball, it's probably just your description of this great fun. Anyway, I'm probably not going to participate in it."
"Don't tell me you're not coming with us!" Lexie looked at her in disbelief. "After all, it's going to be the best party in town! There won't be any others, so you'd better think it over" she added quickly.
"Thanks, I'll think about it."
The girls entered a small but cozy restaurant, and a bell rang softly above them, touched by the opening door. Behind the counter appeared a tall and slightly overweight man with rather distinct facial features. He looked to be about fifty years old. His black eyes narrowed into a friendly smile as soon as he saw Lexie and Fleur. They must have been here often, because the man immediately knew what kind of tea to serve them. He looked at the third girl questioningly.
