~~~~~~~~~~I watch outside the window as we drive past the place I will be staying at for the next year. Father demanded, much to mothers dislike, that I don't return for the holidays.
"I'll miss you." My mother sobbed into my shoulder, holding me tight.
"I'll call you." I promised her, letting go.
My mother and I have always been close, she understood my rebel ways and always stood by me, just not this time. I knew what I did was wrong and it was an accident.
I nodded to my father and grabbed my luggage out of the trunk. My father guided my mother to the car and drove off without another word. Leaving me stood in front of an unknown building.
Love you too dad I thought to myself
Slowly walking inside I took in the grand structure. The outside had old stone giving it an almost elegant look. There was some ivy going down the walls making it seem old, it was in front of a large garden and there were people out raking the leaves. Inside the foyer there was a high ceiling with marble pillars, people walked around in uniform, obviously with a place they need to be.
"Only the best for my girl."
My father's words rang in my head. If he thought this was the best for me, he obviously didn't know much about me. Like the fact I was terrified right now, but I would never show it.
"You must be Elizabeth Newman." A woman spoke from behind me.
She had a posh British accent and was wearing a suit with a skirt. She had a strict look to her and I knew just by one glance not to get on the wrong side of her."Follow me to your room." And with that she strutted away.
I looked around again before grabbing my bag and following closely behind her, scared of getting lost in this large unknown building.After a few minutes of walking through long corridors, past many numbered doors, we finally came to a door with the number 113 printed onto it.
Would I ever know my way around this place?"You will have one roommate, it is part of our trust exercises." She informed me.
"Why would you need to trust me with another person?" I questioned.
She just looked at me, opened my door and walked away.
I stepped inside the room, it was split almost down the middle, each side mirroring the other. There was a bed in the corner with a bedside table and lamp on it. At the end of the bed sat a large dresser with room for clothes and makeup etc. Between the two beds was a door which lead to a bathroom which we would share.
While I was looking a boy walked out the bathroom "Oh, you must be Elizabeth." He exclaimed holding his hand out for me to shake. Shaking, his hand dwarfed my own."Uhm, yeah?" It came out more as a question.
"They think we feel more trusted sharing a room with the opposite gender." He explained.
I was confused, if only my dad knew this. I doubt he would ever let me go near this boy. I smiled evilly to myself knowing he wouldn't agree to it
"My names Shawn." He explained, still with a smile on his face. He had dark brown, almost black hair which was long but not too long. He had green eyes and a strong build. When he smiled he had a dimple on one side, he was pretty cute.
He looked at his watch before smiling and leaving the room.
Looking around I placed my bag on my bed and started unpacking. There was a schedule sat on my bed. It explained all the rules. Apparently there was to be
No Relationships.
No Stealing.
No Harming of other people, physical or verbal.
The worst being Uniform had to be worn on work days. (Which varies on each person, mine being Sun-Wed)
The list went on and I made a promise I will try to at least break all of these once in my year here.
It also contained the times for things
7-8am = Breakfast
12-1pm = Lunch
7-8pm = Dinner
The best news is on the day I leave, I will be 18, and I never have to go back home. Yup that's right. Today is my birthday. My parents shipped me off to a boarding school on my birthday.With a sigh I finished unpacking all my stuff, I hung up my few posters and a few pictures of me and my friends. Changing into clothes I haven't been in for a day long drive, I let out a grunt as I lay down on my freshly made bed. The time was 7:00pm and I didn't want to go to dinner. Pulling the covers over me I let a tear slip out and whispered.
'Happy birthday to me....'
