The night was heavy for the family especially Yunlan and Mr. Shen.

Only Hong was the one who was peacefully sleeping.

The next noon, a lot of calls were received by police and all told them about a young boy jumping in the river.

As they arrived, they showed the gathered crowd a picture of Shen Wei,

The onlookers recognized the boy in the picture as the same one who had jumped into the river.

"It's him. Shen Wei. We have to get him out of there, now." One officer worriedly shout

The police quickly comes into action, creating a rescue team to search the river and retrieve Shen Wei.

"We've received reports of a young boy matching Shen Wei's description jumping into the river."

The family rushed to the scene, after listening to police words.

Yunlan's eyes widened in disbelief, his mind refusing to accept the terrible news.

"No! No! This is a lie!" Yunlan shout and he runs towards the river's edge, ready to jump in but Zhujiu quickly holds him back grabbing his waist.

"Yunlan, no! You can't go in there!" Zhujiu yelled stopping his cousin.

Yunlan struggled against Zhujiu's grip, his eyes fixed on the river, his heart shattered into a million pieces.

The family and onlookers watched in horror, their hearts were crying when they realised the depth of Yunlan's despair

Mr. Shen's eyes rolled back, and he crumpled to the ground, fainting from the shock.

Sang and Xinci rushed to his side, helping him up and hurrying him away to the hospital.

Xinci turned to Yunlan, trying to calm his distraught son.

"Yunlan, listen to me! Expert divers are going into the river right now to find Shen Wei. They'll do everything they can to bring him back to us."

Yunlan's face was soaked wet with heavy tears "No, no, no! It's too late! He's gone! I know it!"

Xinci grasped Yunlan's shoulders, holding him firm.

"Don't say that, Yunlan! We have to hold on to hope! The divers are professionals, they'll search every inch of the river. We'll find him, I promise!"

Yunlan's eyes welled up with tears. "But what if...what if he's not alive?"

Xinci's voice cracked with emotion "Shhhhh don't speak such words. He will come back to us"

Yunlan's body shook with sobs as Xinci embraced him tightly.

"We won't give up on Shen Wei, he is our baby and he must come back to us!"

Yunlan's body crumpled, his knees hitting the ground as he succumbed to overwhelming grief.

"Dad my Wei and my child. Both are innocent than why they have to bear such things?"

Tears streamed down his face, his lips quivering as he whispered the same two phrases over and over:

"My Shen Wei... my child..."

His eyes remained fixed on the river, his gaze piercing the water as if willing Shen Wei to emerge from the depths.

His father, Xinci, knelt beside him, wrapping his arms around Yunlan's trembling body, holding him tight as he too fought back tears.

"My son, my son... we'll get through this. We'll find Shen Wei, I promise."

But Yunlan's despair was all-consuming, his mind unable to process the possibility of a life without Shen Wei by his side.

He clutched at his father's arms, his fingers digging deep as he wailed:

"My Shen Wei... my child... please come back to me!"

Zhujiu was also crying looking at them and then he looks at the river.

The divers emerged from the river, their faces sad and their eyes cast down. Yunlan's heart sank, sensing the weight of their news.

Officer Li approached the divers "What did you find?"

The lead diver shook his head "Nothing, officer. We searched the entire area, but there's no sign of the boy."

Yunlan's eyes widened in horror as the diver held up a shirt, its fabric torn and waterlogged.

Officer Li's gaze turned to Xinci, his voice heavy with sympathy "Sir, do you recognize this shirt? Does it belong to Shen Wei?"

Xinci's eyes locked onto the shirt, his face pale. "Yes... that's Shen Wei's shirt. He was wearing it this morning."

Yunlan's mind raced back to the last time he saw Shen Wei, and the way the shirt clung to his slender frame.

His heart shattered into a million pieces as he realized the devastating truth.

"No... no... no..." Yunlan's voice crumbled, his body swaying as if the ground beneath him had given way.

Xinci's arms enveloped him, holding him tight as the world around them seemed to fade away.

The divers' words hung in the air like a death sentence, leaving the family with only one devastating certainty: Shen Wei was gone.
