We hear people say, "Man proposes God disposes" or that "Marriages are made in heaven." These statements proved to be in the case of Seethalakshmi and ArunKrishnan. Technically, they were both, in no way, connected. In those days, marriages either happened within families or at least within families you knew but this horoscope landed in the most incredibly odd way.
Who would have thought that Seetha's parents, while visiting Coimbatore to attend a wedding on Shanthi's in-laws side, would end up striking a conversation with Shanthi's neighbor. The topic of discussion leading up to Seetha and that mami immediately thinking of her naathanar's younger son all seemed like "Pillaiyar's" plans.
Souls come into different parts of the world only to be united by the force of the universe. This was a classic example. Let's take a slight detour on how this magic took place.
A couple of weeks ago in chennai
"Dei Arun, Raman mama va paathu romba naal aachu da. Enakku Coimbatore to oru ticket pottu thariya? Avan kooda poi oru Pathu naal irundhuttu varen. Unnoda Anna manni kooda Bambai ku poiten na angendhu poitu varadhu kashtam. Adhu thaan." Parvathi said, serving her son one more idli and pouring the sambar.
Arun looked up at her and smiled, "Innike office boy anuppi ticket vaangeendu vara sollaren. Enakkum mama va paakanum nu aasaiya irukku. Enakku leave vera neraya irukku. Naanum kooda varene. Appidiye namma kula deiva kovil kum ponam nu romba naala sollariye, adhukkum poitu vandhudalaam." Parvathy beamed. She said an internal prayer to the kuladeivam to find a bride for her younger son. Although she was planning to go to Bombay with her older son, the thought of leaving her baby alone in Madras worried her.
As soon as Arun reached office, he called his office boy, Pazhani and sent him to Central station to book tickets, giving him the details (Yes, in those days one had to physically go to the station to book tickets. There was no "online" booking. Even until early 90's tickets had to be booked at the counter.)
Two weeks later Arun and Parvathi boarded their train to CBE, unaware of how this trip would change their life, especially for Arun. They landed in Coimbatore early the following morning and took an auto to mama's house where they received a warm welcome. Raman and Pankajam hadn't seen Arun for over 4 years and were thrilled to meet him. After the usual catching up, Arun told his mama about how they had to visit their kuladeivam temple and mama offered to help arrange the trip and also agreed to accompany them.
The next morning the trio left on the temple trip. Pankajam was having some health issues so she decided to stay back. It was only because she remained at home that she got the opportunity to meet Seetha's parents and discuss the wedding. Once the exchanged the basic information, it wasn't rocket science to realize that the nakshathram and gothram were a match. So the date of birth and time of birth was given to do some further digging into the match making process.
When Parvathi and Arun returned from the temple visit, the excited lady told them the whole story about how Seetha's horoscope matched so well with Arun's. Parvathi took this as a blessing from kuladeivam and insisted that they move forward with this. "Dei Arun, nee leave pottu en kooda vandhadhu kooda swamy oda anugraham thaan da. Namma poi ponna paakalaam."
Arun sighed, "Amma, nee yaaru kazhuthula thaali katta sonnalum naan kattaren maa. Edhukku maa indha ponnu paakardhu ellam. Paavam maa andha ponnu. Bommai madiri namma munnadi vandhu nikka vachu. Idhellam vendaame." Parvathy frowned, "Dei adhu eppidi da nee andha ponna paakama naanga seri nu solla mudiyum? Mariyadhaiya kooda vaa. Ava edho kalyanathukku vandha pola irukku. Namma oru rendu naal la varom nu solli anupidi, Pankajam. Nalla kariyatha thalli poda vendaam. Chattu Puttu nu aaga vendiyadha paapom."
Although Arun did not say anything further, he had made up his mind to say ok to this girl. He did not like the idea of going and looking at a girl, eating the snacks and coffee provided and then rejecting and breaking a girls heart. This girl that he was going to see was going to be his future wife.
Information was passed along and it was decided that were going to pakakkad along with Shanthi akka to meet Seetha.
