I go to school earlier than most people in order to avoid Ara.

However, when I arrived early I found Nakamo Irishi already there.

I was surprised to see someone else up so early.

Nakamo is usually very quiet and doesn't talk to anyone.

We have never talked because I'm a second year, and she is in 1st.

All I know is she's in Video Game Club.

She looks like someone who would be really fun to talk to, but I've never had the chance.

Maybe one day we'll cross paths and strike up a conversation - until then, I'll just keep admiring her from afar.

I noticed someone following me.

I turned around and saw it was Ara.

I quickly ran ahead.

Suddenly, someone walks up to my desk and it's my best friend Ichiro Kodashi.

He gives me an understanding smile and sits in his chair, which is right next to mine.

"Ara instructed me to fetch you."

"What for?"

"We are gathering for lunch."

Kodashi and I commenced our meal alongside Ara.

Kodashi gently taps my shoulder and directs my attention to a girl who appears to be observing us.

She notices our gaze and starts to leave.

Ara would want to investigate further if she saw it.

She doesn't like being stared at by someone that is in need of comfort, so I'm not going easy on her anytime soon.

It's time to leave again.

Ara and Kodashi are walking home with me.

"I gotta stop somewhere, you two go ahead." says Kodashi.

I chuckle at his attempt to play matchmaker and watch him walk away with a smile on his face.

Turning to Ara, I can see that she's taken aback and unsure of what to do or say.

I take a deep breath and start to explain why I thought it would be funny.

"Kodashi has been trying to bring us together since we were younger, and that he has always had a soft spot for us."

I explain that this was his way of trying to show us that he cares, and that he wants us to find happiness in being together.

I can see her understanding and appreciation for his gesture in her eyes and she smiles back.

We are almost home.
"Look! Ice Cream!" Ara calls out.

I see the familiar truck slow down.

"Let's get some!"

Ara grabs my hand and drags me toward the truck.

"One Strawberry for me!"

"I'll have Vanilla."

I pay for both and we sit down at a nearby bench.

Just as I start eating, Ara has already finished her's.

"Can I have yours?"

I laugh and give in, handing over my cone.

Ara grins and continues to eat both cones with enthusiasm.

We sit there for a few more minutes before getting up to leave.

As we walk away, I glance back at the ice cream truck one last time and smile contentedly; it's been quite a while since our last visit here together.

We start heading home after that, but as we get closer something catches my eye: a familiar building on the horizon, Ara's dorm.

A wave of nostalgia washes over me as I take in its familiar shape; it feels like no time has passed since we left this afternoon despite all that happened during our outing today.

With renewed energy, Ara grabs my hand again and pulls me along faster towards the dorm.

Ara is an incredible friend. She always manages to bring a smile to my face with her infectious enthusiasm and energy.

Her ability to find joy in the little things, like making a decorative bowl for me, has been inspiring since I first met her.

Ara's passion for life is contagious; she never fails to make me laugh or remind me of what really matters in life.

I leave the room and go next door, where my dorm is.
