Mellie was a little mad at herself when she finally caught up to Nicole. She'd barely missed the bus and had had to run as fast as she could behind it to catch up. When she finally got there, Malik, a goblin, had already revealed himself and attacked Nicole. As Mellie was about to run up to shove the goblin off of Nicole's arm, he was blasted back as the tree went up in flames. Nicole yelled something as glorious glittering wings sprouted from her back. Knew it, Mellie thought as the forest went up in flames. Though she felt slightly guilty in the back of her mind, the Boggarted Mellie had almost no qualms about funneling the fire to swirl more around Malik. Part of the reason was it was easier to keep it under control if it was in one spot, the other part was that she rather wanted Malik to burn for all he'd done to her friends. So she just happened to, possibly on accident, possibly on purpose, use her wind draíocht to funnel the fire to the same spot Malik was. As she focused on that Nicole lost consciousness and Mellie ran over, "Nicole! Nicole!" Still keeping the fire in the same spot as best she could, Mellie ran over and knelt next to Nicole.

Maura had just started to get some of her things out of the moving boxes, when there was a frantic knock at the door. When she opened it, she saw Mellie carrying Nicole, who was unconscious with an injured wing. "Well if there was ever any doubt," she mumbled. "Bring her in, we've gotta get that wing fixed up," Maura said.

Nicole woke up staring at an unfamiliar ceiling. Her whole body ached. She groaned as she lifted her arm to rub the sleep out of her eyes. What happened? Where am I? The last thing she remembered was being in the woods and...

Nicole looked at her arm again. Sure enough, the bite mark from Malik was neatly bandaged. That was more than enough evidence to suggest that what had happened wasn't entirely a dream.

"Nicole! Thank goodness, you're finally awake! I just brought in some soup for you." Mellie nodded to a tray she'd just set down on the bedside table. She sat down at the foot of the bed, a concerned expression on her face she asked, "How're you feeling? What happened? If you're willing to talk about it, that is..."

Nicole did her best to sit up. "Okay, I guess. As for what happened, your guess is as good as mine. I was in the woods walking home when Malik snuck up on me. He said a lot of crazy things like fairies and eating selkies and goblins and other fantasy creatures. I think he went completely crazy. Then he bit me and everything was on fire..." Now a headache was starting to come on. She rubbed her forehead. "And then I think I blacked out. Is this your apartment?"

"Yeah, this is our apartment," Maura, who had walked in behind Mellie, answered. "Mellie and I have been taking care of you while you were knocked out. Hopefully your injuries are mostly healed by tomorrow, but if they're not, we can cover for you at school."

"Tomorrow!? We have school tomorrow!? That means, I was out for two days!?" Nicole exclaimed in shock.

Maura nodded. "Don't worry, we told your parents we took you to our place since it was raining so hard," she said.

"Yeah, two days ago." Nicole sighed, it wouldn't do her any good to be angry at her friends. "Where's my phone? I need to call them."

Maura gestured to the cracked device on the nightstand, deciding not to make a big deal about Nicole's still healing, and very much visible wings. That was clearly the wrong decision.
