"You can never win, can you?" A young boy said, sitting down. He had dark brown hair with beautiful Hazel eyes. He sat across from his best friend, Dell Philby.
"I seriously can't!" Dell exclaimed. He looked around to see the girls sitting at their lunch table. For the longest time, he had a crush on Alice. She had perfect golden hair with sapphire eyes, she was flawless in every way.
"Girls will never like you, my friend." Philby's friend, John told him.
"That isn't true!" Dell said louder. He noticed a girl named Marry starring at him. She had light brown hair with brown eyes and her smile was small. She had her hair pulled back into a long wavy ponytail. When we were both starring at each other, her smile grew. She waved. I waved back. John looked to see.
"Maybe she will like you, Dell." He whispered. They both laughed.

"Now tell me," Philby walked over to his best friend. "Should I put light green socks on or dark blue?" He fixed his hair. A perfect red, spiked up a little, but not that much. Few freckles filled his face and his blue eyes sparkled. A small smile appeared on his face.
"You look perfect." John smiled and put his hand on Philby's shoulder. "Now go and flirt." He laughed, covering his mouth.
"Shut up!" Philby ordered. He was only in first grade, he needn't worry about girls. He doused as he approached Marry.
"Hi..." He paused, starring at her. Marry turned, and when she did, her hair swayed slowly with her every move.
"Hello Dell," Her English accent rang out. "Nice to see you." She smiled, standing.
"You as well...." He was starring at her awkwardly now. She laughed and felt awkward as well. John came up from behind me, braking our stare.
"Come on, Philb's, we have to go." He added with a laugh.

"I'm so sorry." He was in tears. "I- i di- didn't mean to- to." He stuttered while crying so hard.
"Well next time, look where your going, stupid geek, nerd!" Brad sighed and went to punch Philby that was lying on the floor, but John came between him.
"You are a really sick person." He blocked the punch and cracked his knuckles. "I wouldn't if I were you." He stood there, seeing if he would leave. Brad cracked his neck and left with some girls attached him.
"That's so sick." John mumbled. Then he turned around too rush to his friend. "DELL!" He shouted. "Are you okay?" He tried sounding calmer all though he still yelled it. Philby nodded as he spat blood out from his mouth, wiping it with his sleeve.
"Alright good." Once he was up, John smacked him in the face. Philby groaned. "Come on, Dell, we are almost in eighth grade now. Stand up for yourself!" He then hugged his friend. "I'm sorry for slapping you." His English accent was ringing through the halls. Philby smiled.
"It's okay." John sighed in relief. Dell was so lucky to have him for a friend.

John sat there on his bed, as Philby was in the bathroom changing. When he was done, he joined John, but sat at the bed across from him. Dell sighed as he reached a picture out of his pocket, reviling the most beautiful girl ever. Marry Jane Grimingstone. He felt tears come to his eyes.
"How long has it been?" John asked. It was silent for a moment.
"Five weeks." Philby said, letting a tear roll down his cheek. He folded the paper and placed it in his pocket so carefully.
"I'm sorry." John sighed. Ever since first grade, Marry hung out with the boys a lot. But when she was bullied over four months straight, she was found chocking on her own blood and puke. It was too late.. She had put her life to an end. John stood up for her as well as Philby. But it wasn't enough.

"It's a book on civil war." Philby smiled, fixing his glasses. A young girl named Audrey asked him what he was reading.
"And you like it?" She asked, her accent steady.
"Yes. Very much."
"Oooo." She widened her eyes, sitting next to him. "So you are a nerd?" She bit her lip, waiting for a response.
"That I am." He continued smiling. She laughed. It was a cute laugh.
"I read a book once," She stopped and thought about it. "Well to not change the subject, and not make sense, it was about civil war." She nodded. "Yea. It was my Birthday. I am a nerd as well, and love Star Wars. I picked the book over a Star Wars present. It was a sad book. I don't know how you can stand it. All those people dying. They are innocent. Every single one of them."
"Expect for the Nazis. The ones who tried to take over London." I said, smiling, but her face grew sad.
"No... Germany is as innocent as we are. They deserve to be forgiven." She then opened a book to start reading it. It was black... It was The Holy Bible. Philby starred at the young girl, about two years younger reading the book. He had trouble forgiving someone he knew that was very close to him. This girl was setting a great example.
"What if it was us in Germany?" She starred at me. "God forgives us for ever sin we do. He also wants us to have peace. Forgive him, Philby." She smiled. His eyes widened and he went to close his book. But when he looked back up to talk... She was gone. No where to be seen.

"I'm telling you!" Philby pleaded John to believe him. John bit his lip to prevent laughing.
"An angle?" He finally let the laugh out. "For bloody sakes, Dell. That's... Why that's..." He tried to think of something, letting out a laugh. "Bloody ridiculous, mate. Listen to yourself." He stopped laughing.
"I know what I saw." Philby stormed off.

The next morning at school, Philby didn't hang around John. He rarely used the bathroom, or talked with his other friend, Andrew. Which he talked to every day at school. John approached him in the gym, eating by himself.
"What's up with you, mate?" John asked. He ran his fingers through his hair then sat down with Philby. Dell just looked at him and stayed silent.
"So you won't tell me?" John wasn't angry, but he forced his words out of him making it sound like he was Australian.
"I'm..." Philby trailed off.
"You are..." John wanted him to continue badly.
"I'm moving." Tears rolled down his cheek. He quickly wiped them away. "To Florida. My mom, told me there is a new opportunity she wants me to take called Kingdom Keepers DHI." Philby looked at him with red eyes.
"I'm leaving tonight." He stuttered as he cried. "At six."

John paced up and down Dell's room, hopping Philby wouldn't be ready to leave. He was still getting ready, so that was good. He let out a huge sigh of pain. That's when Philby opened the door, and the two boys cried like a weak girl.
"Call me every single night." John demanded. "Give me updates. Tell me who you meet and if you start dating a girl."
"When I turn eighteen, I'll come back." Philby sounded so sure of it. First of all, I grew up with this kid. He defended me my whole life in school. I didn't want to leave London. I wanted to breathe in the Untied Kingdom as long as I lived, even if I had to do it in Italy. The two boys, looked at each other. John was the first to look away because every time he did his heart sank. Second of all, we didn't want people to think of it the wrong way. John was actually crying, which made me start crying harder. It was like a loved one going to war, not knowing if they'd return. But he would return. He promised and wouldn't brake it. John pulled him into a hug.
"I'll miss you so much, nerd." He let out a small laugh. Then they were laughing a little bit, but tears still streamed down their faces.
"I'll come back." Philby said, very quietly. He then pulled the picture of Marry out of his pocket and a note. "Read it to her, and place the note and the picture on her grave." He slowly reached his hand out to give it to him.
"But you need to remember her." John said, wiping his tears.
"I will. I will never forget you guys. EVER."
"Come on, Philby. We need to go." Dell's mom pulled him by the arm. They both looked at each other and smiled.
"Good bye..." Philby started.
"For now..."
"Partner." They said partner in unison.
"Until next time." Yet again, in unison.
Then...... he was gone.

A month later. Philby started to get use to the air and his house, and a lot of things. He called John every night just like he had asked. With John living with such strict parents, he knew John couldn't visit him. My parents said they didn't want me leaving until eighteen ether. John was still sad, but he was starting to get use to it. All though he longed for his friend back.
"What's their names?" John asked while munching on a carrot.
"There's me, then there's Finn... Kind of like the leader.. Maybeck... Totally conceited in every way." Both the boys laughed.
"Does he bully you? Need me to beat him up?" They laughed more.
"Then there's Charlene... Into cheering and all that girly stuff. Then there's Isabella... But we call her Willa." Philby smiled thinking about her.
"OOO.. Is she a nerd like you?"
"Yea." Philby smiled some more. "She is, but she's still pretty." It got silent for a moment.
"Did you visit her?" I asked.
"What do you mean?" John asked back, but he knew exactly what I meant.
"Did you read her the note?" I was sweating.
"Yea... DUH! Like the day right after you left. I've been bringing her flowers every Thursday too." It got completely quiet.
"Well I should go." John said.
"Okay. Good night John."
"Good night nerd." He just had to add the nerd part.

"Hey Willa." I approached the young girl who sat at a picnic bench. Her hair fell just a little bit past her shoulders and it was wavy. She looked up from the book she was reading.
"Hey Philby." She went back to her book. She was eating an apple as well. I looked down sad.

'I miss when John called me Dell a lot.'

Instead of saying something, I gave a small laugh.

"What are you reading?" I asked. She laughed as well.
"I've always wanted to live in London because of the accents! Yours is perfect." She laughed harder, but then focused on her book again. I smiled. She's so cute.

"It's fun." He said, longing to go back.

"Listen, I just cant! I'm sorry!" Those were Philby's last words before John hung up. They just had a fight about how Dell was always busy and dint have time to talk anymore because of Kingdom Keepers stuff. Philby let out a small sigh and wondered if he would ever call back. A whole year passed, and never heard from John... Again.
