After dark (Little Nightmares AU)

Ch. 4

Mono gasped and jumped up in his bed as he woke up.

He could feel his heart beating in every inch of his body. He was shaking, sweating, and breathing rapidly. He tried to calm himself down first, before he asked himself anything. The boy covered his face in his hands and took some deep breaths. He felt his heartbeat calm down. Suddenly, he heard soft knocking at his door.

He hesitated at first, but asked his visitor inside.

Six perked in.

Six:" Mono? Are you alright?"

Mono:" Yeah why?"

Six:" I heard a loud gasp from your room."

Mono:" O-ohh uhm.."

He cleared his throat.

Mono:" I uh, I had a nightmare, you know? But, it's alright."

The girl looked worried.

Six:" Can I come in?"

Mono:" Uhm, sure? I guess? "

The girl walked in. She was wearing short, Grey trousers and a thin, long-sleeved white shirt, which sleeves were covering her hands a bit, just so that her fingers were free anymore.

She sat on his bed as she arrived.

Mono:" D-do you need someth-"

Six:" You're sweating."

Mono:"... How the hell did you see that."

Six:" I'm a goddess, I can everything."

She said sarcastically.

Six:" And also, you're shaking."

Mono wanted to ask her how she knew that, but she already answered before he could ask.

Six:" I knew that because I feel it through the bed. So now tell me, what happened in the nightmare?"

The boy felt like he had to tell her what he saw, but somehow he couldn't. So he had to lie.

Mono:" Ahh.. Nothing special. You know, the usual Thinman things. "

The girl made a worried sound.

Six:" Still? But that's no good, Mono. "

Mono:" Why are you so worried anyway?"

Six:" Oh so do you want me to not care?"

Mono:" N.. No."

Six:" What? I couldn't quite hear you. "

Mono:" Fuck you. "

Six:" that's what I thought."

She chuckled.

Mono:" and also, what the hell did you do up this early in the morning? "

Six:" couldn't sleep. I... I had a nightmare as well..."

Mono:" oh... Do you.. Want to tell me about it? "

Six:"... Not really. "

He was surprised about her sudden change of mood. He could tell that something was not right. Because of her mood change, and he could hear that she was struggling with something on her tone of her voice. She was trying to overlay it, but she was hiding something.

Mono:" it's alright."

Six nodded:" thanks."

Mono took a deep breath.

Mono:" GOD. It is dark as hell in here. Mind me turn on the nightsidetable light?"

Six:"... No?"

Mono:" alright."
