Chapter 22

Micah POV:

After buying her the dress we walk out the store to find Melody and Alex waiting for us by the seating area.

Melody's eyes turn to slits as she observes us come out of the store, having spent too long on just one dress, "You took too long" she almost bites.

Quinn refuses to meet her eyes as we walk around the mall.

"Can we go to the shoe store real quick? my sister wants a new pair of shoes for her birthday" Alex turns around to ask us, we nod and head toward the shoe store.

Me and Quinn walk around the store while Alex and Melody go look at some shoes for his sister's 14th birthday.

Quinn stops in front of a nice pair of heels for a minute or two before walking away. "Do you want those?" I ask her with a raised eyebrow, "they're just pretty to look at, they caught my eye" she says without meeting my eyes.

She's right though, they're pretty, two nice black heels with two straps around the toes and one to fasten around the ankle.

I grab her hand and tug her back into my chest, "they would look gorgeous with your dress" I kiss her ear, "I'm buying them."

"what? No" she spins around.

I'm on my way to the cash register when she follows up to me, "no, you don't have to, I don't want them."

"Yes you do, I saw how you where looking at them, I'm gonna buy them" I fish out my wallet to pay the cashier for the shoes, "fine" she crosses her arms, "but let me at least pay you back."

I put my wallet in my back pocket, "you can pay me by wearing those tonight" I move closer to whisper in her ear "and nothing else."

Her eyes turns wide as she looks at me and I grin and wink at her before walking out the store.

We're all tired and hungry from walking around the mall for hours, so we agree to find a place where we can sit down and eat.

We find a nice cute little cafe and choose a table in the corner to sit.

I go to sit beside Quinn because I thought Melody where gonna sit beside Alex, but when I slide my chair out, before I can even sit down Melody slides into my seat and beside Quinn, so I go sit beside Alex.

After we order our food and drinks the air grows tense and awkward. "So. This is nice" Alex attempt at conversation is swallowed by the tension that radiates from Melody.

"Come on Mel, I want you guys to like each other, you know how much your opinion means to me" she takes Melody's hand in hers, and like the lovesick puppy my wolf is I get a little jealous that she's not holding my hands.

"It's not that I hate him or anything , I just don't like him being around you" she admits.

"Mel, there's not a single person in this whole universe that makes me as happy as him" she lets go of her hands to grab mine and give it a squeeze, and I swear my heart melts with happiness.

"We may not have been together for long because he was kind of an idiot in the start—" true Jace chimed in my head "—but he's my idiot, and I wouldn't have him any other way" she smiles up at me.

My heart feels so content.

Melody fiddles with her hands and takes a long moment to answer, "just make sure to give him hell for being an idiot", Quinn chuckles at that, "I will."
