"So... what's he like!" Lexi exclaimed as I sat with her on the beach."He's cute," I replied.
"Off to an amazing start," she grinned laying back allowing her hair to get sandy.
"And he's nice and seems super excited about camp," I continued.
"Ah! It just gets better," she giggled.
"I don't see myself making a move on him," I told her.
"What!" She exclaimed, "Savannah Lyons! Why not? This was the whole point!"
"I just don't see myself feeling any kind of romantic feelings for him," I explained pulling my knees to my chest.
I had wanted to feel something so bad. To see him and have my heart skip a beat and my stomach fill with butterflies when he said my name, but that wasn't the case. I looked at him and truly felt nothing. He was nice and cute and excited to work with me, but there was no spark. It was like he was a new student I was forced to be a buddy to.
"Who cares if you don't feel anything right now. You'll start to feel something once you get to know him," Lexi told me.
"I know everything I need to know. He's a guy who plays soccer and knows Louis. I'm sure he's great, just not romantic attraction for me," I replied. It seemed so cut and dry in my mind, but Lexi wasn't letting go so easily.
"So that's it? You're just going to end your career at Pearl Lake with one fling that ruined your entire summer?" She asked.
I knew what she was trying to do. She was trying to get my hatred of Michael to force me into wanting something with Niall.
"That is how the cards played out, yes," I replied.
"Fine, then you wouldn't be mad if I wanted to try something with him?" She asked.
"Be my guest, I'll even put in a good word for you. He seems to value my opinion," I said. She groaned as my phone dinged.

niall: okay
niall: if I'm not there in five minutes I've gotten lost in the woods and you need to come find me
savannah: deal"How could you not like him!" Lexi exclaimed, "you guys already have banter. Banter, Savannah!"
"I don't know!" I exclaimed, "it's not my fault. I just don't like him. Why don't you throw yourself at him?" I asked.
"Oh, I will," she replied, "it's just a shame that you don't want to do the same thing."
"Trust me, Lexi, I really wish I did."
"Hey!" I heard a male voice from behind us.
"Niall, over here!" I replied as he came to sit next to me.
"This is Lexi, she is my best friend here at Pearl Lake. Been here since she was eight years old and she knows this place like the back of her hand," I explained.
"Hey, I'm Niall," he smiled softly holding out his hand.
"Lexi Trainor, ten year old girls. Pleasure to meet you, Niall," she smiled shaking it.
"So, about that formal tour?" Niall asked looking over at me. I stood dragging Lexi up with me.
"We'd love to give you the S and L all inclusive Pearl Lake Summer Camp tour," I grinned as the two of us struck a pose. Niall chuckled as he stood up with us.
