"Okay girls, how was everyone's school year? Did we all just finish the fifth grade?" I asked my group of girls as I walked around helping everyone unpack and get their beds made.

"I finished sixth grade!" A girl, Victoria, exclaimed raising her hand. I chuckled softly.

"Smart are we?" I asked.

"I skipped the first grade," she told me.

"Good for you," I replied helpFting her out sheets on her twin bed.

"Sav!" Someone exclaimed. I looked to the door to see Niall.

"Ew!" "Get out!" "No boys allowed!" The girls all giggled and pointed at Niall.

"I need your help," he told me. His eyes were desperate.

"Everyone be nice to counselor Niall. It's his first year here," I told them walking to the door. They all kept giggling and exclaiming.

"What's up?" I asked out in the hall.

"One of my boys is already crying because he misses his mom," he told me, "I have no clue what to do."

"Oh, is it, Ethan? Tell him that when he finishes unpacking he can go to the beach," I replied, "he always cheers up after a few hours."

"God, thank you," Niall smiled.

"Well, I'm going to get back, text me if you need anything."

"Trust me, will do," he chuckled.

All the girls started giggling again when I walked back in.

"Now what's this all about?" I asked.

"You and new counselor Niall are dating," one of the girls exclaimed.

"No we are not!" I replied, "he's an icky boy. Why would I want to date him?" This was the funniest thing to them.

niall: he didn't stop crying
niall: what do I do?
savannah: give him a few minutes
savannah: you got this n

"I would date him. He's so cute," Liana smiled laying on her bed.

"Oh is that so?" I asked.

"Yeah! Do you not agree, Savannah?" Another girls asked.

"Yeah, do you think he's cute?" Piper giggled.

"Let's say this," I began, "I don't think that counselor Niall is ugly."

"Oh my Gosh!" Liana exclaimed, "Savvy totally has a crush on Niall!"

I rolled my eyes as I helped Danielle put clothes into her drawer. I remember being their age and caring so much about my counselors and who they thought was cute. I couldn't blame them. Niall was cute.

niall: please help
savannah: I'll be right there

I sighed before leaving my room again. I could not be the counselor to thirty six eleven year olds this summer. It couldn't happen. Niall needed to gain confidence with these kids. He just had to.

"Ethan, what's wrong?" I asked sitting next to the crying boy.

"I want to go home," he mumbled into his pillow.

"What about the beach? What about swimming and the water slide? You really want to miss the first night bonfire and s'mores?" I asked.

"No," he relied, "I just miss my mom."

"Mom will be back to visit in a week. You will be too busy having so much fun that you won't even notice it's been that long. I promise," I told him rubbing his back.
