We enter the dormitory to find it empty. Percy raises and eyebrow.
"Something isn't right..."
"No shit," I say; the room has a strange tense feel to it, like something is watching or waiting.
I spot a security camera in a corner of the room that definitely wasn't there before.
Suddenly, I hear muffled voices from the corridor outside. Percy and I exchange a look then dive into our separate bunks, just as the door opens to let a thin chink of light spills into the room.
"So what am I do-" an unknown voice starts.
"Just watch the door while I get it done and get out of here." I hear the voice of Jake, one of the dauntless leaders. What are they doing?
I open one eye, to see Jake bend over a bunk - I don't know who's, but I slip out of mine and creep up behind them on silent feet. I quickly disable the security camera. Then I grab my boot from the floor and in one swing I thwack Jake on the head with it. He drops to the floor, unconscious.
Percy scrambles out of bed to help me knock out the man at the door, who I still don't recognise.
Then I realise; we have two unconscious men in the dorm.
"What are we gonna do now?!" Percy hisses at me.
"Check what they've got on them." I say.
The man who was guarding is holding a shotgun, presumably to shoot anyone outside who tried to enter the dorm. He just didn't count on people coming out of it.
Jake has exactly the right amount of syringes for the remaining transfers. They are full of a strange yellowy-green liquid that Percy and I inspect with care.
"We need to do something with the bodies, Annabeth, and we can't just kill them." He says.
"I know, but what?"
"Well you're the one who came from Erudite."
"Oh come on; you're smart too!" I try to keep my voice down, but as much as I love him, he's acting like he's pissed off with me.
Percy looks away for a second, then steps over Jakes body to lean in and kiss me. The butterflies in my stomach suddenly appear and flutter like crazy. He pulls away suddenly, leaving me standing in shock. He bends down to drag Jake by the shoulders towards the door.
"Percy are you okay?" I whisper.
"I'm stressed out, Annabeth. Aren't you? As if initiation wasn't bad enough, we've now knocked two people out cold! And that, just then, I don't know what that was. I just sorta had this urge to kiss you, okay?" He snaps quietly. I've never seen him like this, so I wrap an arm around his shoulders and lean my head on him.
"Sorry," I murmur.
"It's not your fault." He replies, "so what are we gonna do?"
"Leave them at the edge of the chasm so when they wake up they fall off, so it technically won't be us who killed them. It'll look like they committed suicide." I tell him my on-the-spot plan.
Percy hesitates, then agrees, "okay."We follow my plan through, carrying one man at a time and avoiding cameras. Luckily, there aren't too many. When we've done as we needed to, Percy stands up and dusts his hands off.
"Nice one, Wise Girl, this might just work." He tells me. I wrap my arms around his waist and snuggle my head under his chin. He runs a had gently up and down my back, then leads us back to the dorms. It's past midnight by the time we get to sleep. So much for the early night.---------------------------------------
Percabeth sailing strong! Trying to make this story have a bit of a plot, instead of if just being constant happiness, because tbh that would be boring.
