As the bell chimes, the students who borrowed textbooks lift their desks and chairs, returning them to their original positions, you let out another sigh of relief, stretching your limbs and freeing them from being crammed for too long. That's when Maki turns around, elbow propped on the chair with a hand to support her chin, she grins teasingly, much to your hidden frustrations.
After all, you just got out of a potential heart attack caused by both your crush and your teacher. It's a miracle you haven't flopped onto the floor and disintegrated into the ground out of shame and the rapid pounding of your heart against your ribcage that you are sure was shattering the bone structure in your ribs mere moments ago.
"That was superrrrrr close ya know."
"Yeah yeah, no need to rub it in." You deadpan, your arms landing into sprawled-out positions on your desk as you roll your eyes, "Why are you here?"
Sour mood and grumpy attitude on after the adrenaline rush, apparently. You were sleepy, then rudely awakened by the scares, before returning to your natural state again. The only thing you want is to lay your head on the desk and take a nap before your next lessons. Else another heart attack would ensure-
"Class Movie Time." The knowing glint within her eyes has you straightening your back, suddenly becoming interested in your discussion topic, "We have Spy X Family: Code White awaiting."
"Nevermind, let's watch that."
"Weren't you the one giving me an attitude just now?"
"Maki, it's bad to tell a lie, you know. I wasn't giving you an attitude," You explain calmly, ignoring the way she looks at you like you've grown a third head, amused more than confused, "It was simply my poor body erroring."
"You know you're not making sense."
"SHHH!!! I know you're just confused-I usually am-so there's no need to feel embarrassed."
This is how you respond as you dig your bag for your beloved phone, already tapping in the password to unlock the lock screen. You hear your best friend sigh, before a snicker follows in response, feeling a finger poking at your cheek though your eyes do not divert from your phone once.
SpyXFamily had been slowly crawling up your charts of favorites, and climbing up the charts of favorites is no easy feat because you are someone incredibly picky and thorough, only giving a new anime a few minutes to impress you before either deciding to watch it until blooming black eyebags appear or simply drop it altogether.
And what a coincidence (or not since the anime is already quite popular), your friend was also eager to see for herself what the movie has in store, you were no different, already nimbly gliding your fingers across the keypad in anticipation.
