WILLOW'S POV
Sunday, October 27, 2022WILLOW DIDN'T KNOW what to expect when Dr. Caddel asked to meet her but she certainly didn't believe it would be because of this.
"What do you mean you're taking me off Neve's rehabilitation?" Willow asks, her voice losing its rhythm halfway. "Did I do something wrong?"
"No, you didn't." Dr. Caddel says, "I'll be having you assist me on this new client, Owen, he's a twenty nine year old soccer player who's also recovering from an athletic injury."
Willow shakes her head, "But you're not telling me the reason on why I'm assisting this soccer player instead of Neve."
Dr. Caddel looks like she's searching for the words before she opens her mouth, "I've noticed that you and Neve have become close outside of work." Dr. Caddel states, "And although it isn't necessarily horrible, it's inappropriate and would be even more inappropriate if something romantic ever formed between you two.
So I believed it would be best to switch you to a new patient so you and Neve's friendship wouldn't be unprofessional because even if you are an intern, Neve is still technically your patient."
Willow has felt shame before, she was a teenage girl trying to force herself to be everything but herself but she never felt shame like this. She knew it to be suffocating, vile and overall filthy but she didn't know it could be so tangent. So odor filling because she could smell her discomfort. Her disappointment. Her disgrace.
"I understand why you did this and trust, I will never, ever let anything like this happen again." Willow says, her words almost automatic, "And don't worry about anything romantic happening between me and Neve. We're just friends."
Dr. Caddel nods her head, "That's good to hear but if something ever were to happen, in your case since you're an intern, it should be a month interval."
Willow nods her head, feeling her eyes become watery before Dr. Caddel rubbed her arms, "Don't beat yourself up because I see it in your eyes. You two are just friends and this reassignment was just for your benefit to keep it like that."
Willow nods her head, barely taking in any words of encouragement as she thinks about how she fought for her way to get here that would have easily been lost just because she didn't stay professional. Didn't do her job.
She felt the urge to throw up and so she quickly excused herself and went to the bathroom to exit out the shame that had taken over her body.
"Are you okay?" Dr. Caddel's familiar voice asks, slowly patting her back as Willow hovered over the toilet. Willow didn't even notice she followed after her.
Willow just sheepishly nods her head, "Yes. I'm sorry. I just needed a moment."
Dr. Caddel looked her in her eyes and it just felt like she could see right through her. Willow was scared that she has made herself too open, she had to close herself up because if Dr. Caddel was anyone else, this internship could've been lost. Been taken away just because she decided to make herself think she could have everything.
