NEVE'S POV
Wednesday, October 30, 2022EVEN THE NEWS that Neve can get off her crutches didn't excite her as much as it should have because she wished Willow was the one telling her. Not Dr. Caddel.
"Here you go." Dr. Caddel states, handing her the cane as she takes the crutches from Neve. "Could you walk with it?" She asks, Neve humming in response.
"Yeah." She says, walking with her cane that felt way more comfortable than the crutches. "I forgot how nice it was to walk with little minimal effort."
Dr. Caddel nods her head, "Take it in and be proud of yourself, this is because of how good you have been."
"I will." Neve replies, "Do you know when I actually won't have to use anything? And just be able to walk on my own?"
"Likely the beginning of your third month if your process keeps this way, so late December or early January."
Neve gives a tight smile, "That's so close."
"I can see that you're being sarcastic but trust me, you'll be back on the field in no time. Look at how you're on your cane now!"
Neve shrugs her shoulders, "You're right. I'll be back soon enough."
But will I still be good enough?
"Anyway, I can let you go now. See you tomorrow!" Dr. Caddel says, waving goodbye as they both walk out,
"See you!" Neve farewells, walking in the opposite direction of Dr. Caddel towards the lobby.
And for some reason, Neve assumed that since Willow wasn't assisting her anymore that she wouldn't see her as often but there she sat, at the reception desk without any awareness that Neve was there.
Neve assumed she wouldn't see her anymore but she still went to look for her when she came in, and to her disappointment, she wasn't there earlier.
Neve went to sit in the seats as she waited for Indra to come pick her up.
She so desperately wanted to turn around and make inappropriate eye contact with Willow just to get a rise out of her but she can't do that stuff anymore.
She hated that.
But despite her best judgment, she turned to get a glance of Willow just for her to witness Willow looking away from her first.
That meant she was staring first, Neve thought, feeling quite smug at the thought but otherwise sad because she looked away.
She didn't speak because they won't be doing that anymore and the more Neve thought about it, the more higher her urge to throw a tantrum grew.
The vibration of her phone in her pocket which was a message from Indra saying he was here was the only thing to get her out of that clinic without having a public meltdown.
