Riley’s POV

Mason stayed close to me as we gazed at the festival below us. Everyone was laughing and enjoying their time like normal people would. Nothing felt out of place other than the fact that Mason’s hand was joined to mine. It was unusually warm with many callouses but it fit perfectly with mine.

“Have you ever wondered if mythical creatures were real?” He asked. It was odd that I wasn’t surprised by the question. I didn't necessarily believe they were real, however, there was something weird about this town.

“Not really. I wouldn't say it was impossible.” Which was true. It would be cool if such things were possible.

“The wolves here are larger for a reason. Supernatural beings are real. Everyone here, including myself, is a werewolf.” He said it casually as if it was no big deal. As if he didn't just say everyone here turned into an animal.

“You all turn into…wolves?” I tried to keep the nervousness off my voice.

“I just said that, did I not?” I turned to look at him. There was nothing about him that was different than the first time I saw him. He turned to look at me and his once green eyes turned red.

I stumbled off the couch trying to put some space between us. His eyes slowly turned back to green and there was no doubt in my mind that this man was not human. My body was paralyzed as I tried to figure out what to do. Should I run? No, I can't outrun him. I can't hide either.

“I will not eat you so don't exaggerate your reaction. I'm sure you have a lot of questions,” that’s an understatement. “But I don't want to hear you stutter so I’ll just talk.”

“There are many supernatural beings. Werewolves, vampires, witches, fairies, elves, angels, even mermaids. Some of them don’t live in this dimension but that's not important now. Werewolves have a wolf inside of us, but it's more of an instinct. We don’t hear a voice, but we can feel their emotions.” He stopped talking and went over to his bar area. I tried processing what he was saying, but none of it sounded real. I mean fairies, seriously?

“We live in packs with an alpha being the leader and the beta his second hand. Some packs are large, with approximately 500 members, while others can have as little as 60. Here we only have werewolves, vampires, and witches and we have an organization that oversees all of them. That is the most important information, now, do you have any questions?” He sipped on whatever he poured in his cup looking at me with the same expressionless face.

Werewolves are real. He was a werewolf. Leo was one too, and Lily, and Sunny. “Why are you telling me this?” Except I already knew why.

“You will be staying here every weekend. I’ve already informed everyone that you're human. Try not piss off anyone.” None of this made any sense and yet all I could do was stare at him.

I took a seat on the couch again to try and absorb what he just told me. There was a whole other world out there that consisted of men turning into wolves. Of others sucking blood and casting spells. And I’m staying here on the weekends?

I felt him sit down next to me. “Leo will be in here shortly to show you to your room.”

“My room?” I questioned while peeping up at him through my lashes.

“Yes. You don't expect me to go to you, do you? You’ll have a room here and I’ll call you when I want.” He started stroking my hair while lightly massaging my scalp. The warm touch of his fingers sent goosebumps down my body. At last a tiny smirk appeared on his face.

Suddenly none of this seemed so bad. I would get to be near him, touch him, sleep with him. One step at a time I’ll surely win him over. There was no way this was just one sided.

A knock on the door made him stop. “Come in.”

Leo walked in hesitantly. “Alpha,” He bowed slightly while addressing Mason. Him being the alpha did not surprise me in the slightest. I cannot imagine him taking orders from anyone.

“Take him to his room. Proceed with your instructions if he has any other questions.” I began walking with Leo to my new room. Before walking out I turned and looked back at Mason. He was looking at me with red eyes that flickered to green. I no longer feared him, if anything those red eyes softened his face.

“Let's go Riley.” Leo pulled me out of the room and shut the door. He walked us to the elevator and pushed on the button to the 10th floor. “So what's on your mind?” He asked softly.

“You are all werewolves. I don't even know what to think honestly. Even after everything Mason said none of this feels real. It's like I’m in a really elaborate dream. Should I be scared?” I looked up at Leo hoping for some answers.

“You don't have to be scared of us. We won’t let anything happen to our Luna, plus Sunny will probably talk your ear off now that we don’t have to hide this.” He smiled down at me. What's a luna?

The elevator stopped at the 10th floor. As we walked along the long hallway I noticed there were only three doors. We stepped into the second door revealing a large room. There was a large bed and dresser with a TV mounted on the wall. The walls were white which contrasted the wood furniture and floors.

“What's a luna?” I asked while walking into the room.

“He didn't tell you?” His brows furrowed as he sat down on the bed. “You're his mate.”
