Ben Hardy and Emily - Childhood Friends

The music pulsed through Emily's body, a familar thrum that brought back memories of childhood parties and teenage dances. But none of those memories included the man standing before her, a broad smilme splitting his face.

'Emily? Is that really you?' She laughed, a little breathlessly. 'Ben? Wow, it's been ... forever'

'Forever,' He echoed, his smile widening. 'You haven't changed a bit. Still got that fiery red hair.' She ran her hand through her hair, as a nervous gesture. 'And you, you've definitely grown up. All.. movie star handsome.'

He chuckled, a deep, rich sound that made her stomach flutter. 'I'm not sure about the movie star part, but thanks. What brings you here?'

'Just a night out with some friends, what about you?'

'Same. It's a friend's birthday. I'm actually back in town for a few weeks, filming a new project.'

'Filming?' Emily's eyes widened. 'You're  an actor? I never knew!' She played as she laughed.

'Oh shut up.'

'Last time I saw you, you were in Eastenders.'

Ben chuckled, his hand running through his hair. 'Yeah, well, I've been places since then.'

'That's impressive.'

'What have you been doing? Still living in the same house?' He teased, a playful gliny in his eyes.

'Well I'm not exactly living in a mansion, but I'm happy here. I'm a teacher, actually.'

'A teacher? You?' He chuckled again. ' I can almost imagine you standing in front of a class, commanding their attention.'

She blushed, feeling a warmth spreading through her cheeks. 'It's not quite like that. But it's fulfilling.'

'So,' Ben said, leaning closer, his voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper. 'What do you say we chatch up properly? Maybe over a drink, somewhere quieter?'

Emily's heart thumped against her chest. 'I'd like that,' She whispered, her eyes meeting his. 'Very much.'

The music faded into the background as they walked together, leaving behind the pulsating lights and mass of people. A new chapter was beginning, one that promised to be far more exciting than either of them could have imagined.
