"What did people do before ladders?" asked Janet, taking a sip of her Coke. Janet, Ponyboy, Darry, Sodapop, Johnny, Dally, Two-Bit, and Steve, were all walking around town.
Where were they going? To the park. It was during school hours, at least for the Elementary and middle schools. Highschoolers had the day off, so it was really just Ponyboy and Janet that were benefited from that.
Two-Bit began to tell this random story about insulting a rude cashier as they walked to the park. "And then this guy was like 'shut your trap!' and I'm all like.." It took us a while to get to the park, but when we got there, we did random things. Steve and Sodapop did a few acrobat moves that Darry taught to the gang.

While everyone, including me, was dicking around, Pony heard a scream.
"Ah! Get away from me!" screamed someone. Everyone went towards the noise to find this one girl being picked on by some group.
"These guys botherin' you?" asked Soda, with everyone else next to him. Thank God I had only one sip of my Coke left, I could break that bottle whenever.
"No... We're just toying with our friend here. Right, Sandie?" said one of the group members, smirking. The girl, I suppose her name is Sandie, nodded fearfully.
"You sure? She seems quite scared," Darry took charge, as he was the oldest and strongest of the group.
"Scared? Noo... She's just peachy!" snickered another one of the guys tormenting the poor girl.
"Just leave her alone, will yo-"
         "Shut your trap, greaser!"
         "What did you just say?"
"You know damn well what I said. Now get your weak ass home before we slit your throats."
And the fight was on, the interaction seemed to be very quick in my mind. I broke the end of my bottle and jumped towards a guy with a switchblade. He cut my arm, but I managed to slide the blade across the pavement, slugging him a few times on the cheek. After some kicking, and punching, and cutting, the boys ended up running away.

"Oh my. Thank you guys. I- hah! So sorry for the uh... Disruption," said Sandie, nervously. Sandie was this cute girl, definitely a catch. She had smooth, straight, brownish-blondish hair that went up in curls on the end and bangs. Sandie had on a blue, patterned, short-sleve button up with a skirt that was blue, but darker.
"No problem. Hey uh.. why don'cha come hang out with us?" Dally did his usual flirting, instead he was less direct about it.
"Oh, yeah. Sure! I don't have much to do today.. thought I'd go on a walk but... Y'know... Those guys," sighed Sandie, joining our little crowd of us.
We went back to the park and sat on a piece of equipment. Some of us were smoking, I certainly wasn't. Dally and Two-Bit were chatting with Sandie, asking stuff about her while she twirled her hair and smiled. Man, that girl was a doll, definitely prettier than me.
I laid down on the grass under the climbing dome while Ponyboy and Johnny were on it. Johnny tapped down cigarette ash on me from above.
"Johnny!" I yelled, wiping the ash off.
"What? Dust ain't gon' hurt you," responded Johnny. I was too frustrated to respond. I laid back down and closed my eyes. I rolled onto my stomach and saw Sandie getting flirted on by all the other guys. I was a little jealous that Sandie got this attention. I never got that attention when I first started being friends with everyone. I don't mind it that much, just a little observation.
"How old are you, Sandie?" I asked the girl.
"Oh, I'm sixteen. Turning seventeen in a few months," answered Sandie. I just nodded and laid back down. I got out of the climbing done and crawled up on top with Pony and Johnny.
"Cancer stick, please?" I said to Pony.
"You smoke? Since when?" Ponyboy handed me a cigarette, I popped it in my mouth and Pony lit it for me.
"Since now," I responded. As soon as I inhaled, I began to cough like hell.
"Maybe not. I thought it'd calm me down," I choked, putting out my smoke and putting it away. I thought smoking woulda made me look cool, like Dally, but no. I look stupid.

We hung out for little while. Sandie is pretty nice and all, but she kept acting weird to me.. kinda mean.
