I waited as that clock ticked and ticked and ticked. I tapped my foot along with the rhythm of the ticks. The bell was supposed to ring any second now. 'Any minute, come on..' I thought, impatiently. RING. 'Thank the moon goddess!' I jumped from my chair, fumbling around to grab my belongings to run out. Summer was here and I was ready for it! I turn 18 in a few weeks, then i'll have my wolf. Then I can shift, i'll be allowed to go on pack runs. I— I bumped into a broad, hard chest, causing me to loose my balance. I almost fell but whoever it was caught me. I looked up and immediately recoiled. "Ew. Let go of me. I'm fine." I pulled out of their hold, before pushing past them and exiting the corridors of the high school.—
I was sitting in my room relaxing and watching a youtube video when my mother called from downstairs, "Autumn! Jessica's here!" I facepalm. I completely forgot my best friend was coming over to stay the first week of summer. Her parents would be out of town for a business arrangement with being allies to another pack. Jessica was the Alpha's daughter. That put a lot on her shoulders. Clicking back into reality, I turn off my television and shuffle my way downstairs. "Jess! Hey. Come on up, let's put your bags in my room." I say picking up some of her luggage, and I begin to hobble upstairs, careful not to drop any of Jess's bags. I hear her moving behind me, signaling she followed me.

Half an hour later Jess is settled in my home, and we're all in the living room chatting about plans for tomorrow. "We could go to the lake and swim? Maybe bring lunch and eat there as well!" Jess suggested, "Or we could see if anyone's having a party and see about going?" She continued. Jess had always been a party girl, She knew I hadn't cared too much for them. Though I try to make an effort for her. After a minute or two of thinking my parents decide it'd be nice if us two girls went to a party. Had a nice first day of summer. I reluctantly nod, "Uh... Yeah, it could be fun." I yawn, tired from the long day. Dinner was already eaten and I was ready for bed. "I think i'm going to go to my room, call it a night." I say as I stand from the couch, "Goodnight mom, dad. Jessica? You coming up with me?" She nods following me up to my bedroom. We both take a spot on my bed and I let the darkness consume me as my conscious goes to dreaming.
