I woke up to a thud. My heart hammered into my chest as I frantically looked around, only to see nothing in my room with me. Jessica must have left my room or something. I hear loud bickering coming from outside my room. My mom and dad were at each others throats is what it sounded like. I wonder what happened this time, I sighed as I rolled out of bed to go check. Once I opened my door my jaw dropped, Jessica was passed out on the floor. My dad and mom weren't arguing like I thought they were, they were panicked and trying to wake up Jess. "Jessica?? Jess!" I shout as I fall next to her side. "Jessica? Hello? Please tell me you're okay—" I shook her violently, hoping she'd wake up. I put my index and middle finger flat on her wrist. "Her blood sugars low, I think- She needs something with sugar." I say a little shaken up by the ruckus going on. I get up and rush for our pantry, looking for something, anything. I fumble some more before grabbing a granola bar, and scurrying back to Jessica, forcing it down her throat.

A few hours later Jessica woke up, she was in the pack house. She had gotten medicine to help balance her blood sugar, she was slowly coming to when he walked in. Him. I growled. "What's he doing here." I said flatly. Jacob Thomason. My rival, ugh. Of all the people in the world, he showed up. Why him?! He should be shooed out and shunned. That two-faced devil bullied me all of grade school and up until secondary school ended. Now in high school, he's less around me, after all he is Beta's son. He gets different education than other wolves. Thank the goddess for that. Yet, now, all of a sudden he's here. I guess I shouldn't be too surprised, it is the pack house. I just wished he would stop staring at me with so much intensity. Like at any moment he would come over and rip me to shreds. He sometimes shows up at the high school, like he did yesterday. Disgusting. I wish he'd just look at something else. Anything else. For a moment I felt a sense of calmness wash over me, like he had looked away. And not only had he looked away, but he was gone. He was out of the room, wondering off somewhere. Probably with some girl, who'd miraculously found something attractive about him.

"Autumn? Autumn.. Hello?" I snap out of my head and look over at Jessica who's been calling to me. "Yes?" I ask, embarrassed at how unfocused I was before. "Can we go home now?" She asked like it'd been ages of her asking me. "Oh- Yes, of course." I smiled, letting my canines show. I beamed with joy at the thought of going home.

When we arrived at my house, we decided to go swimming at the lake, like we'd suggested last night. I helped pack for the trip to the lake. Jessica was eating per doctors orders, she'd forgotten to eat more frequent like she's supposed to. I guess that's why she'd passed out this morning. I'm just glad she's alright. We loaded the car up with our beach bags, and mom drove us to the near by lake. We both took turns changing behind a tree, and soon we were in the water, swimming and splashing at one another. We spent hours at the lake before deciding we'd had enough for now. We got out and dried with towels, both our heads still soaking wet, water dripping from strands of hair. I wrapped and twirled my hair up into the towel, tucking the end in the cap I shaped out of it.

Later that evening Jessica and I were in my room getting ready for the party that was being held later tonight. I had no idea what to even wear. I was rummaging through every kind of dress I had to choose between. Seeming as indecisive as always, I kept skimming option after option. Until I heard Jessica say, "That one." As I held a laced red spaghetti strap dress. It flowed down just below my knees. I grabbed my black heels to go with it and grabbed a small purse satchel. I went over to my vanity to do my makeup and applied all the necessities, not in any particular order; blush, mascara, concealer, and contour. I did my hair up into a beautifully braided bun updo. I grabbed my keys, and Jessica smiled and nodded then without a word we both walked out to my car. Party time, here we come.
