Back in my room, the tension between us can clearly be felt, my brain full of unspoken words and unresolved emotions. But as we sit down together on the bed, we begin a conversation. "I'm sorry", I say softly, breaking the silence. Ella nods, her gaze fixed on her hands. "I'm sorry too," she admits, her voice barely above a whisper. For a long moment, we sit in silence, each lost in our own thoughts. But then, slowly, we begin to talk—about our fears, our regrets, our hopes for the future. And as we talk, something shifts between us—a newfound sense of understanding, of empathy, of shared experience arises. First we cry together but at some point in the conversation it turns into laughing together and she eventually leans against my shoulder. As the night wears on, we decide to play silly games and share stories, our laughter echoing through the quiet house. And as exhaustion finally catches up with us, we curl up together in my bed. Or really, it is her in my bed and I decide to take the sofa in my room to give her privacy. "No, please come to the bed. We could share if you're fine with it?", Ella suggests. At first, I look at her hesitantly but when I see her confident look, the hesitance eases up inside my body. As we drift off to sleep, I feel a sense of peace wash over me. I feel safe with her right beside me. And I realise that no matter what the future holds, I will not leave Ella's side.

The next morning dawns bright and clear, the sunlight filtering through the curtains and casting a warm glow over the room. I stir, blinking away the remnants of sleep as I stretch and yawn. Beside me, Ella sleeps soundly, her breathing steady and even. I can't help but smile as I watch her, my heart overflowing with gratitude and affection. Carefully, so as not to wake her, I slip out of bed and make my way downstairs. In the kitchen, I find my mother bustling about, preparing breakfast with a smile on her face. "Morning, sweetheart," she greets me, her eyes twinkling with affection. "Sleep well?"I nod, a sense of contentment settling over me. "Yeah, I did," I admit, a small smile tugging at the corners of my lips. As we sit down to breakfast, I can't help but feel a sense of gratitude for the family I have been given—a family that has stood by me through thick and thin, that has supported me even when I didn't deserve it. And as I glance over at Ella, still fast asleep upstairs, I realise that Ella and I will face the challenges that lay ahead, hand in hand, and together we will manage to solve everything that seems difficult now.
