Please, I've been on my knees,
Change the prophecy, don't want money,
Just someone who wants my company.☆☆
What if one day all your dreams come true? What if one day everything you've dreamt of had materialized in the most mesmerizing way?
Like most girls, growing up I too dreamt of my wedding day. From the type and the color of my outfit to the choice of flowers for the decoration.
The royal palace of Rajasthan, my home, had been bedecked like a beautiful bride. I could see that everything had been done just as I wanted.
Credit for which goes to my brother, karan, who I never thought paid any attention let alone remembering any of it, whenever I talked about my imaginary wedding.
Although, never have I ever thought that my dream would come true as a suffocating nightmare. I said nightmare because if this was my dream wedding I would be marrying a guy with whom I was crazily in love with and he would be just as crazy about me. The kind of love which makes you believe in the existence of miracles and magic. The kind of love I read in my books.
But here I was.
Marrying a guy who I've met and talked to only once. I didn't know anything about him not for the lack of trying but he just couldn't care less about taking out time for the woman he was supposed to marry.
The one time I called him, I could hear the faint voice of a female in the background.
"Yash, stop it! You're on a call for God's sake!" she said giggling.
It didn't need a genius to decipher what they were up to. It was one thing to be getting married to a stranger but to marry someone knowing full well you'll be cheated on was something completely different but at least he wouldn't come to me for sex. Not going to lie but the thought of intimacy ,especially with him, made my skin crawl.
After that incident we went on a date our parents forced us to go. Up until then, I had only seen his picture and knew what my parents told me and his too, on the day our marriage was fixed and of course that phone call.
He was the prince of Madhya Pradesh, first in line to the throne. His name was, 'Yash Rajput.'I was waiting for him in the private space of the cafe reserved specially for us. He was already late by thirty minutes. Each passing minute was a slap making me realize how he definitely wasn't the right guy for me.
After what seemed like an eternity he entered, eyes on his phone, constantly typing. He didn't even bother looking up as he sat down on the chair in front of me.
His attention was severed when a waitress came to take our order. He ordered for the both of us, a cup of black coffee(I didn't even drink coffee). As she walked away I found him subtly checking out her behind.Soon his eyes finally fell on me and without wasting a second, he said, "Look, I don't want this marriage, I have my reasons to say yes and I'm sure you have yours. So don't expect anything husbandly from me, ever. I already have a girlfriend, Jiya, soon I'll find a way to divorce you and marry her, till then just pretend in front of families and keep your nose out of my business, understood?"
I nodded, my head low trying to hide my watery eyes.
"Understood?" he asked, sternly.
Closing my eyes, swallowing the lump in my throat trying to find my voice. Then I looked straight into his eyes and said firmly, "Yes."
I would rather die than to let him see me weak.
After that he got up and left, long forgotten was his coffee. I paid and left as well.
On my way home all I kept wondering how in the world I ended up here. Maybe that's my destiny.
Ha! That thought always made me chuckle, considering my name, Niyati, meant destiny. But that's just it.
Destiny was in my name never in my favor.I kept all those thoughts aside and went to bed, knowing full well tomorrow's going to be hectic.
More of the guests were supposed to be arriving tomorrow which meant more fake smiles and laughter. Sighing I closed my eyes and fell into a slumber.__
