I know this chapter was very late, but my mind was all over the place trying to figure out how to make sure the story flows smoothly. As for the other chapters I will try to write them as fast as possible but sadly can't guarantee. Hopefully this chapter is decent.~Present time~
~Amaya pov~It was Saturday night, already past 9, and my eyes were glued to my laptop screen as I struggled to concentrate on my work. For the past hour and a half, I had been staring at the screen, trying to make progress. I needed to respond to emails from my clients and review the work submitted by the architects I oversee. As the department head, I was responsible for overseeing all the projects, ensuring they adhered to the clients' demands and met the standards.
It had been a year since I joined Skyline Architects & Design, one of the foremost firms in the architecture industry. Renowned for their excellence, it had always been my aspiration to work here, and when I finally joined, I was thrilled. Throughout the year, I dedicated myself to hard work, which led to being appointed as the youngest department head. My boss was pleased with my performance, consistently delivering work that exceeded client expectations.
It's been three months since I was promoted to department head. While I was excited about the new position, the workload has significantly increased along with my responsibilities. Now, most of my time is dedicated to ensuring that all projects are managed effectively.
Unable to make any more progress, I ran my hand through my hair and let out a sigh. I reached for my phone, knowing that there was one person who could help me unwind a bit: Amelia. Even though we didn't see each other as often as before, our bond remained strong. She was the one person I could rely on, no matter the time or situation. Amelia had just finished her last year of nursing school and was now working at a small hospital.

"what would you like Amaya?" Asked Lia with a smile. I was a regular at this cafe, it was one of my favorite places to visit. Lia was the owner of the cafe and we had become friends due to my countless amount of visits.
"One Oreo milkshake and a caramel cappuccino please with whipped cream on both and two spicy chicken panini please" I told her my order and waited for it to be ready.
I settled into a seat by the windows, a bit further away. Moments later, I noticed the cafe door opening, and my gaze met a weary-looking Amelia. She scanned the room, then her expression brightened as soon as she spotted me, replacing her fatigue with happiness.
"Hey babes, I missed you" she said as she took a seat In front of me.
"Me too" I said excited. We chatted for a little bit before Lia brought our food and drinks to us.
"I thought us two living together would mean I would get to see you more often" I said with a slightly dramatic tone.
"I know right" she laughed.
