person POVIt had been two hours since Amaya was admitted to the hospital, and not for a single second did i leave her side. I sat in the chair next to her bed. Aaron was busy wrapping up details with the police, following my orders to identify the interpreter. He was a loyal friend, ensuring everything was taken care of.
Grayson had to tend to other emergencies. Every so often, Grayson would check in on Amaya and then on me, recognizing the rare vulnerability in his usually stoic friend AKA- me. He had never seen me like this before—so attentive, so worried.
Amelia was stuck at the airport due to a flight delay and wouldn't arrive for another two hours, but i had promised her i wouldn't let anything happen to Amaya.
I watched Amaya as she lay on the hospital bed, looking like a peaceful angel in slumber. Even in her vulnerability, there was a quiet strength about her, an unguarded beauty that left me breathless. Her dark lashes fanned softly against her cheeks, and every rise and fall of her chest was a reminder that she was here, safe. My gaze lingered on the gentle curve of her hand, lying still beside her, with an IV line taped to her arm—a stark contrast to her usual vibrance. It pained me to see her like this, yet in this moment, all I felt was awe.
She was my angel—the one who swept into my life and filled every dark corner with her light. She brought warmth where I'd only known cold, and hope where there was once only emptiness. Her presence was a gift I never expected, a radiant force I couldn't resist. And as I watched over her now, I knew one thing with absolute certainty: I would do whatever it took to keep her safe. Nothing would harm her; not while I was here to protect her.
As i sat there, i felt a revelation dawning upon me: if anything were to happen to Amaya, i wouldn't be able to bear it. I imagined the world without her—a desolate place where I could hardly breathe. In that moment, i felt an overwhelming surge of protectiveness; i would burn down the world before i let anyone harm her.
I struggled to make sense of the whirlwind of feelings stirring within me. No one had ever affected me like this before. I wasn't accustomed to losing control over my emotions just because a woman smiled at me or the way her eyes sparkled when she spoke passionately about her work. I found himself captivated by the sweet floral scent that lingered around her, a scent that now felt like home. The slight flush of her cheeks when she was embarrassed made my heart race, and i realized that every one of my senses was consumed by her presence.
Deep down, though i hadn't fully grasped it yet, my once-closed-off heart was now filled with one woman: Amaya Hart. Each minute spent by her side only deepened my feelings, pulling me further into the beautiful chaos that was her world. In the midst of all the uncertainty, one thing became abundantly clear: i was irrevocably drawn to her, and nothing would ever change that.
Amaya pov
Darkness surrounded me, pressing in from all sides as I stood frozen, staring into the abyss. Suddenly, two figures appeared before me—shadowy outlines of a man and a girl. The scene was a hazy blur, but I could make out the man's face as he turned sharply, locking eyes with me. In an instant, he lunged forward, grabbing me and shoving me against a wall. I struggled to get back on my feet, only for his hand to lash across my face, the sting burning through the haze. His fingers twisted into my hair, pulling me painfully close as he hissed, "I guess I'll have to deal with you now that she's gone."
With one final shove, he threw me against the wall, and I felt my body crumble to the ground. As I looked up, another figure was charging toward me, the shadows blending into his outline. But just as he reached out, everything shifted, pulling me away from the scene.
