I pushed my glasses up to my face as I scanned through the pile of papers from my students. There were about three stacks to go through, all for the same assignment but for different class hours.

I would say that grading is the worst part of teaching - looking at the same assignment over and over, trying to figure out who got it right or wrong, all for the sake of a grade.

As I was marking my papers, one of my students, Jordan, approached me. He stood in front of my desk and said, "Ms. Solem?" He used my first name, which I preferred.
