I slowly cracked open my eyes and winced as a dull ache spread across my temple. The room was dimly lit, the stench of dampness and decay filling my nostrils. The walls were covered in mold and filth, the cold, damp air sending chills up my spine. Drip, drip, drip... the sound of water echoed faintly in the distance, sending shivers down my back. As my eyes adjusted to the dim light, I looked down at my hands and realized they were chained together. Two shadowy figures stood in the corner of the room, faces obscured by the shadows.

One of the figures spoke, their voice echoing through the cold stone cell. "Shouldn't have gone riding by yourself, my Queen. Dangers lurk in these woods."

I took a deep, shaky breath and tried to speak up, my voice trembling in fear. "Where am I?"

The figure was silent for a moment, before answering in a cold, dispassionate tone. "You're in no danger...yet"

The other figure snickered and spoke up, their voice dripping with malice. "And you won't be leaving anytime soon your majesty until Simon answers our call"

I swallowed the lump in my throat, trying to keep my fear under control. Simon... what has he done "My husband? What has the king have to do with this?"

The first figure chuckled. "Oh, you're smart, aren't you? Yes, your husband has been ignoring our letters, and we need to have a word with him."

The second figure stepped closer to me, their eyes glinting with malice. "And we thought what better way to get his attention than to kidnap his precious wife."

"Who-who are you?" I ask with a tang of fear in my voice as I try to see them in the dark of the shadows as the moonlight softly casted in the room

The first figure chuckled, their voice still cold and emotionless. "We're not strangers...we're old friends," they replied, his tone dripping with sarcasm. "And we're here to deliver a message to your husband."

I felt a shiver run down my spine as their words sank in. It was clear that they were up to no good.

"What message?" I asked, my voice shaking slightly.

What has Simon...done...first he's cold and now he...is doing business with criminals?

The first figure chuckled again, enjoying my fear. "We want your husband to answer our letters, dear. He has been ignoring our messages for quite some time now."

The second figure snickered. "And we thought what better way to get his attention than to kidnap his precious wife."

"You kidnapped me just to get my husband's attention?" I asked, my voice incredulous, the king would "What is so important that you had to resort to such drastic measures?"

The first figure shrugged, still maintaining their cold and emotionless demeanor. "The king is a powerful man, and we need to ensure that he understands the seriousness of our demands. We tried being nice and thinking our dear old friend would answer. but we've been sending letters for weeks, and he hasn't responded. We didn't want to resort to such drastic measures, but we left us with no choice."

I frowned; they do not understand...how can I make them understand me "You had no choice? You could have just showed up at the castle and demanded an audience with him. You didn't need to kidnap me!"

The first figure let out a scoff. "Ah, I see. Your marriage is not exactly a happy one, is it?" They said, a hint of amused pity in their tone. The second figure chuckled. "It seems like your husband doesn't appreciate you very much, my lady."

I watch as they step into the light their armor shining...Knights...our soldiers...

The first figure chuckled, finally breaking their cold emotionless facade. "I suppose we owe you an introduction now that we've...gotten your attention." They said with a smirk.

"I'm Soap," they said, introducing themself. "And this is my partner, Gaz." They gestured to the second figure.

KNOCK KNOCK

I turn my head to the door on my right as another man walks in his boots clicking on the floor as he storms across the room handing soap the letter in his hand.

Soap looked down at the letter in the man's hand, his eyes widening in surprise. "What's this?" He asked, taking the letter.

Gaz leaned over, peering at the royal seal on the letter. "Looks like it's from the king," he remarked.

Soap broke the seal and unfolded the letter, his eyes scanning the contents. He chuckled darkly as he read the king's threats.

"Looks like our old friend has finally responded," he said, passing the letter to Gaz, who also read it.

Gaz let out a low whistle. "He's not happy, is he?"

Soap chuckled again as he took the letter back from Gaz. "No, he doesn't seem particularly pleased," he agreed. "Its mostly empty threats... his typical behavior."

His typical behavior? They knew each other but have they been through this before, The king was adored by his people but cruel to anyone else around them. He will not come and save me...he wont...will he?
