I reread this fan fiction and forgot that I actually liked it.
After last night's meal, you retrieved the fishing pole and stored it away with the bucket you brought out to put the fish in, before heading off to bed.
After taking a nap to digest the amazing breakfast. You can hear light footsteps with the brand-new day shining around and under the curtains. You couldn't hear cannons firing so what's with all the movement? Another caught swordfish jumping around the deck? The answer comes closer after you dress yourself and head up the stairs. The mysterious tall dark-haired robin is the closest to you when you walk towards the crew surrounding Nami. And she is who notices you immediately without turning and starts talking.
"From what Nami said, the log pose shows that we're about to reach the next island." It's not obvious because she isn't looking at you but she is in fact talking to you.
"Robin, who are you talking to-" Luffy stood facing forward with his hands on his hips in a strong pose while listening to Nami explain some things about the next island. But then, hearing Robin speak, he questioned it until he saw you in his peripheral vision. "Y/n, hey, it's time that you finally got up here," he said with one eyebrow raised in an unamused look. Breaking into a smile, "Just messing with ya! I stopped listening already." A small sweat droplet formed as you knew Nami's wrath would be coming down on him. You found a spot near them to listen to what was being said. The three of you weren't that far from the group, more of by the side of it.
"When we get to the island. We won't dock. We'll be hanging around close enough so that the log pose can reset. I've heard stories about this place. It's harder to get out of than getting in. The whirlpools surrounding it have created the perfect defense to pirates." You felt a frightening chill from her words. Whirlpools are nothing to mess around with. The visualization forming inside your head told you enough to be unnerved. But you weren't the only one.
"That sounds scary!" Chopper's little nose twitched. "WHIRLPOOLS?!" Luffy stretched himself upward trying to see if he could catch a glimpse from the crow's nest. "The good thing is that over time the island has broken off into more smaller islands. It'll still be a while till we see the islands since the winds haven't been strong lately." Chopper couldn't be happier with what Nami said. A face of relief replaced his near-panicking one. The unwavering coolness of Zoro and the other devil fruit users at the what seems like a frightening altercation isn't uncommon. It makes you feel at ease if you think about it in that way.
Zoro.
His steady gaze listens to every word. Or so it looks like. Who knows if he is, he's just as crazy as Luffy is sometimes. He sits on top of a wooden barrel with a lazy form. Back bent slightly forward, his hands interlocked with his arms touching his thighs. The muscles in them showed themselves off without flexing even an inch. Just from the look of them, anyone can tell he's strong. The coolness emitting from him makes sense. You suddenly try to move your eyes away from his body after catching yourself watching him a little too intently.Going back to listening to the main conversation happening. There were a few comments before the most important part of updating us ended. Allowing some of us to go back to do things we were doing or needed to. The group slightly dwindled in number. Chopper went off to make sure his cabinets and equipment were safe in preparation for the whirlpools. You watched Robin leave after saying a goodbye. Maybe she had a good book that she wanted to continue reading. You thought to yourself. But you were one of the five that remained. Zoro, Nami, Luffy, and Sanji were the others. From what it seemed Sanji was going off on his own too. He started turning around and walking away but suddenly stopped when he caught you in his line of view.
"Hey, Y/n mind helping me again?"
You realized what he was saying. You did just wake up a few minutes ago but were somewhat willing to help. Maybe this can keep your mind away from thinking about potentially getting sucked into a whirlpool. You couldn't hear the scoff coming from somewhere else after hearing him ask you for your help.
