Author's POV
"I don't know why, but sometimes I feel like there's something fishy between our Mr. Jeon and his newly wedded wife," Eun-jung said to Bon-Hwa, her gaze fixed on Aziel, who was seated on the swing chair in the garden. The two women were cleaning the French windows while discussing Aziel.
"I feel the same," Bon-Hwa replied, nodding. "Sometimes it seems like not just something, but everything is fishy." She paused, glancing at Aziel. "After keeping my eyes on her all the time, I can truly say this girl is not a threat to any living being. Human is a big word... I think she isn't even dangerous to an ant. I don't understand how they portrayed her as dangerous."
"I think she is dangerous, but not in a bad way. I think she's something else. She's not a normal kind of danger," Eun-jung mused. "She tried to talk to us, but we, being illiterate, can never understand her," she added with a sad sigh.
"She spends all her time reading the holy Bible. She doesn't even look happy or excited when Mr. Jeon comes back from work. Instead, she looks frightened. What newlywed bride behaves like that?" Eun-jung continued.
"Yes, I noticed that too. I saw her smile at me when Mr. Jeon was away on a business trip, but now she doesn't even look at me or exchange smiles. She used to try her best to talk to me, but now she doesn't even greet me," Bon-Hwa said, casting a pitiful gaze at Aziel.
"And her injury looked painful. Her cheek bore the erythema of a slap, just like the day she was brought here. That day, she looked so afraid, like a lamb. I sensed danger around her from the very beginning," Eun-jung recalled. "What on earth is happening between this newly wedded couple? Are they even really married?" she questioned.
"Shhh... Leon is going to her," Bon-Hwa hushed Eun-jung.
Nestled comfortably on the swing chair in Jungkook's enchanting garden, Aziel was deeply engrossed in reading the holy Bible. She was a vision of grace in her beige off-shoulder frock that elegantly kissed her knees. Her hair was meticulously styled, held perfectly in place by a butterfly-shaped clip.
Having completed all her tasks for the day, Aziel had sent Jungkook off to his office, after helping him get dressed and preparing his breakfast. Now, she was free to immerse herself in her spiritual retreat, so absorbed that she didn’t even notice Leon standing behind her.
Leon cleared his throat, trying to catch her attention. Startled, Aziel turned around to find him standing there.
"Uh," she said, quickly climbing down from the swing chair. "What happened? Why are you here?" she asked, her eyes filled with curiosity.
Leon, with a cryptic expression, responded, "Mr. Jeon wants me to take you somewhere."
Aziel's eyebrows knitted in confusion. "Where?" she asked softly.
"To a room. He wants you to follow me there," Leon said, and she gulped in fear.
Girls shouldn't follow a man to a room, even if he insists.
"Why?" she asked, her voice trembling slightly.
"Just follow me. Don't ask questions," Leon commanded as he turned to leave. Aziel found the situation odd, but what could she do? Feeling powerless, she clutched the Bible tightly and followed him.
Leon led her to the bedroom she shared with Jungkook. They passed it, stopping in front of a door adjacent to the bedroom. Leon fished out a key and unlocked the door.
"Here," he said, opening the door and glancing at Aziel, who stood several feet away, apprehensive.
"Huh?" she asked, and Leon gestured for her to look inside. Overcoming her fear, she gripped the Bible even tighter and walked to him. As she peered inside, her eyes widened in astonishment—
