Hakim: that's impossible
Samira: what do you mean by that?
Hakim:how can you be pregnant?!(he said angrily)
Samira:the doctor just said so.
Mariam: doctor, there must be a mistake
Doc:no, she is very much pregnant.
Abu:but doc,my son can't reproduce.
Doc:oh well,things like this happen.You should be happy.
Hakim:are you saying it's a miracle?
Doc:most likely,I will be back.
(He left.)
Samira:why are you doubting me?
Hakim: because I don't believe it.How are you pregnant?
Samira:we shared nights together
Hakim:well it doesn't count because I am impotent.
Samira:but the doctor said it's possible.
Hakim:well I don't believe it.
Samira:you are a Muslim for goodness sake, this is Allah's doing.
Hakim:no, don't bring Allah into this.You are a traitor (he spat.I was stunned)
Samira: why are you accusing me..
Hakim: because you are a month's pregnant, and it s exactly one month since you met up with that man.
Samira:Nasir?
Hakim:yes him! I forbade you from seeing him yet you went to him.
Samira: I didn't go to him,I met him in the market.
Hakim:well you two seemed very happy to see each other.
Samira:no I was telling him off.I told him we were together and stronger than ever,so he should leave me alone.
Hakim: leave you alone? You are pregnant!
Samira: what are you saying, this baby is yours.
Hakim: never,it can never be mine!I saw you with my two eyes with that man.
Samira:it doesn't mean anything,I slept with you that night.
Hakim: disgusting! You slept with two men in the same day!
Samira:no I didn't.You are the only man I have laid with.
Hakim:you are a liar,you are despicable,you are an adulteress.
Samira:am not.I am only loyal to you, even after you slept with another woman.
Hakim: that is totally different.
Samira:why? because you are a man?
Hakim: exactly,I have every right,you don't.yet you betrayed me and slept with that man.You even have a child with him now!
Samira: it's not true,we can have a DNA test to prove it.
Hakim:there is no need because that baby isn't mine, and I never want to see you again.
Samira: what do you mean?
Hakim: I divorce you!(I froze) I divorce you! I divorce you! I never want to see your face ever again!
Abu:Hakim, triple talaq (divorce) isn't right.
Hakim: I don't care, she is an adulteress and I want nothing to do with her!
(Tears came down my face.)
Samira:after everything we have been through,you choose to doubt me?(I wiped away my tears) fine.I am way better off by myself.
(I walked out of the hospital and came home.I packed up my belongings, they soon came home.I met them at the hall)
Mariam:Hakim reconsider
Hakim:no mother, it's way too late for that.
Samira:indeed it is(I smiled at them.) Upon all the pain and toture you put me through,you have finally let me go, and now am free.Thank you for that.
